Try swimming, less pressure on the knees.  Gives you a full body workout.

Also, try walking or biking.  Another two great way to get some exercise.

Workout with a partner, family member, or friends.  Take it one step at a time and you will see the results.  By biking and walking, your already on your way to a healthier way of living.

Many aquatic facilities will offer water aerobics in the shallow section of their pools. :) Great exercise with less pressure on the knees than regular aerobics. As long as you can stand up again if you slip you'll be fine!

I found that jump rope is not bad if you dont do too long. There is a workout not sure how good it works I have not done it long, where you jump for 30 seconds take 2 min break and repeat for like half hour... that way your not doing it constant.  ;D

Dancing is always a good idea. Water aerobics is fantastic! The only time I don't recommend it in cases where the person would panic if they slipped and went underwater. If you panic and can't stand up that would be really bad. The lifeguard would rescue you of course but it would be traumatic for all involved. I was a lifeguard for 10 years at many different facilities and I only know one person who had to do CPR and it was in the surrounding park not at the pool. We trained like crazy for all emergencies but rarely ever had to use our skills. It's all about being proactive. :) In 10 years I performed 3 rescues none of which required anything more than me swimming over and helping the person to the side of the pool.
