it really depends on the degree you're going for.
you can compare big universities to smaller community
colleges and find that they offer many of the same
degrees. in short, you're basically paying for a "brand
name degree" vs. a generic one.

i will admit that i was dumb about my decision and chose
a brand name. it hasn't gotten me ANY further than if
i'd gone with a lesser-known school. i could have gotten
the same degree and not been up to my eyeballs in debt.

weigh your options, and by all means, DON'T sign anything
that says "sallie mae" on it :o  just trust me.

Choose a college based on your interests and what you want to study not just location.  Look at the size of the school and classes.  Do you want to be in classes where you are just a number among hundreds or would you rather have smaller class sizes with more personal attention?  You can find what you want in different places.

I grew up in a small town and moved to the biggest in my state (st. louis) to go to college so I could do stuff when I wasn't in school. So much fun.

make this decision based on what YOU want out of college... the degree, the environment, etc.
I moved away for college and went to a smaller campus of a major state university system.  I loved my experience.  the classes were small and I really got to know my professors and made some GREAT lifelong friends.

I go to a public college and there are over 15,000 students that go to my school, but I still have a good relationship with my professors and most of them know me by name. A lot of people think that you won't have any interaction with your professor if you go to a medium/large school, but that's not true.
