We use mostly real eggs and then a few plastic eggs for little surprises to be hidden inside

Both if possible. Hard to hide things in real eggs and the plastic ones taste awful. Painting eggs is half the fun.

We go to my moms and have an easter egg hunt. All the kids have a great time. Sometimes i want to jump in and find them too. There is always a little kid in us.

Both! Have you ever taken the peels from onions and boiled them with your eggs? It colors them for you and is pretty neat!

My mom's side of the family has their reunion every Easter.  We have lunch and then afterwards, have a huge egg hunt for everyone.  We let the kids start and then the adults follows behind and picks up the ones the kids miss.  It's a lot of fun.

We use a mixture of boiled eggs, plastic eggs and candy eggs.  Whoever hosts the reunion puts little pieces of paper in so many of the plastic eggs that say "prize 1,2,3", etc for whoever finds them.

No, I have not heard of doing this! That seems like an easy thing to do, thanks for sharing.

When my kids were small we did both, even though they loved the plastic because there was something inside of them.  They never ate the real eggs, but it was all in fun.
