What's your favorite movie based on the works of Shakespeare?I have a few...

1.Hamlet (Mel Gibson)

2.Henry V (Kenneth Branagh)

3.Othello (Laurence Olivier)

4.Macbeth (Orson Welles)

5.Romeo & Juliet (Norma Shearer & Leslie Howard)

and I'll thow in an honorary mention of Ian McKellen in King Lear (which was technically filmed on stage)

Does 10 Things I Hate About You count?

I also really loved #1 and 4 on your list.  5, too.

No contest--Taming of the Shrew. It holds up even today, and one need not be schooled in Shakespeare to understand the clever barbs and jabs that translate to modern-day relationships. Me thinks.

Yeah,Mel Gibson was perfect in that role.It was that film that really sparked my interest in the Bard when I was a kid.
