Well considering his health and ability (or lack thereof), I think it's a good idea for colts to move on and hopefully start grooming another QB to be a good as Peyton was.  Don't get me wrong, PM is one of the best QBs to ever play the game. But i think it's about time for him to retire, even though it may not be on his terms. But having to sit out almost the entire 2011 season and having neck problems, better for him to leave the game now...then to risk further life threatening injuries.

Yes it is sad to see Payton Manning being released by the colts, so lets see what team he might go with or maybe just retire.

Sad to see him leave the Colts! He is the reason they have the new stadium! I am pretty sure he wants to play again, but will his health stop him?

I see this as a new though perhaps final chapter in the Peyton Manning story. It will be interesting to see how it ends. I think the Miami Dolphins will be his next stop. They have a good team and just need a great quarterback.  :)

I feel bad for him. It sucks that an injury had to take him away from the place he wanted to spend his career. It's one of those things where you would just expect the person to retire, but he's still too young and good to do that.  :dontknow:

It's sad that teams are no longer able to keep their great players around after they slow down or suffer an injury but with salaries like they are these days, I guess it's not possible.

I never really like the colts because I'm a fan of the oakland raiders. However, I don't mind watching peyton do what he does best and thats being one of the best QB in NFL. It was sad to hear that the colts released him today. I guess, good things gotta end sooner or later. It will be interesting to see peyton on a different team after all these years of him playing for the colts. It would also be interesting to see the colts rebuild and play games without manning as their QB.

Ultimately this was smart for the Colts.  I realize Peyton is an all-time best but at this stage of his career (age and health) they are better off with the clean break and starting fresh with another young stud in Andrew Luck.

After watching the press conference.....Peyton Manning certainly has a lot more class than the owners and staff of the Colts.  When a player has been that good to and for your community and franchise you don't throw them out because you have the chance to get someone else (who know's if that new guy will be able to perform in the NFL).  Payton Manning will be an asset to any team  if only for the teaching, nurturing and  training of a new young quarterback his years of experience are invaluable.  What a loss to the entire Colts organization and community.

I like Peyton Manning, but I think his injuries just won't allow for his return to the field. It's too risky. I feel bad because he's been such a big part of the team, and he was crying in the press conference, but he's got to accept it. Otherwise he could be seriously injured again. I think he would make a really good sports announcer or analyist. I'm a JETS fan though, and there have been some rumors that he could possibly be bought to the JETS, so that may or may not be a good thing for the team.
