Start A New Topic Drop Down Box
« on: May 10, 2012, 09:59:38 am »
I would really be nice if there was a drop down box on the Start A New Topic tab allowing you to select which thread you want your post to go to. That way people are forced to select the correct thread (hopefully) for their new topic.

Yeah, I think this is definitely a great idea. So we can finally put and end to all this controversy over posting in the correct sections! It's just getting so old... But then again there will still be those very small few who just still won't get it and well like ULuvCeCe mentioned:

No doubt your extrapolation is right on the money, "xyleaht".

-You can lead a horse to water however, if you hold the horse's head under, that horse will drown.  So remember the song and "save a horse, ride a cowboy."

Yup! The Forum contains very good information. But looking in wrong topics for good information can be very tedious.

that is a great idea, or it could even be right as we hit post to post it. Either showing the current topic thread you are in or suggesting that the poster could copy and paste into the correct topic stream.

Well it is not the drop down but it is a start. Just noticed if you start a thread it will say at the top

That is a great idea that would at least make a difference, but the issue quoted above would still be happening.

I KNOW it would be a lot more work for the moderators/administrators, which wouldn't really be fair to them as they aren't supposed to be our babysitters.....
but maybe the bottom line is that topics that ARE started/posted in the wrong board need to be removed, as the warning states.

This would affect the member's number of posts, and would take away from their posts that are required to get the bonus.  :o

Maybe THAT would cause some to stop and think (and READ!!) before they post a new topic!

BTW Admin....I noticed the new addition(s) you implemented when I started a new topic today myself...

and I thought

Hopefully it will be noticed by at least some of the "I post wherever it ends up" worst offenders!

At first, I'd wondered if Admin was going to add a drop-down menu with a "NO, you're posting in the wrong place" option ... apparently we don't share quite the same sense of humor, (or maybe we do and that's next).

I gotta say.....I like that idea, falcon9....but then I suspect that we DO share the same sense of humor (twisted?)

Apparently so however, I did tone that suggestion down a few notches, (since the first "twisted" notion to spring to mind would've been a bit harsh on newbies).
