how old do you think is too old for parents to breast-feed young person I think *bleep* for a one over the age of wonder and ask them if they want to give him breastmilk they should use a pump and not do it in public! You have a different threat.?

Must of missed it there ... was that a "threat" or, do you find *bleep* threatening in some manner?
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

I guess the *bleep* is a auto filtering mechanism by Fusioncash as I have seen this on another thread. As to how old is too old I suppose I would take more notice when the child is about 3 on up. Of course this is not up to me, but the comfort of mother and child.

It is an automated censoring program that was instituted last month.

For our kids, we just tried giving them baby food beginning after age one and left it up to the kids to take as tolerated - no specific age was in mind.

How old is too old to nurse a child in public?

is a different question than how old is too old for a child to nurse?

I don't have a problem with women nursing a baby in public as long as she isn't flaunting the fact.  It's important for a mom to care for her child.

I think a child should be "weened" from nursing between 1 year and 18 months.  It's important for a child to begin to develop the confidence that comes from feeding self, being potty trained and having the self esteem that comes from knowing that they can care for their self.
Have a great day!

So, 27 years old is probably too old then?

I don't feel it is appropriate to breastfeed a child who is able to eat tablefood. I feel if a mother wants to breastfeed two years of age should be the limit. TIME magazine posed a good question but I think four years is too long. :dontknow:

I think about 3 to 4 years old is  too old to be breast feeding in public.

I think around one year is the maximum, appropriate time to wean a baby.  By that time they have been able to get enough of the proper nutrition from the mother's milk for a healthy foundation to grow on.  The 3 an 4 year olds I know would want no part of breastfeeding.

I think as long as you cover your self it shouldn't matter.  Breatfeeding should continue as long as a babby need milk but when they are old enough to eat regular food breastfeeding should stop.  Breast feeding is a natural way of life, when I had my son he quite breast feeding when the health department told me to breastfeed while they gave him his shot, so I had to go to the bottle which is harder to wing off of.  The bottle made my sons teeth come in bad so by the time he was two they had to remove four and cap the rest.

That age question applied only to nursing in public though.  Done in private, that's a whole 'nother thing.

It is only in the US that this is a problem.  Most other places I have been in the world, no one even thinks twice about it, even with children I have seen up to about 5 years of age.  It is a natural thing and is less expensive than formula or  milk or other alternatives (soy etc.)  It is also much more convenient.  As long as it is done discreetly I don't feel  like it is any one's business but the Mommy and child.  All of my children quit on their own between 10 - 12 months, as did almost all of my friends children.
