Without a washing machine
« on: June 10, 2012, 11:20:56 am »
For a better part of a year I have been trying to find a family member or friend here in my city to help me with getting a washer and dryer. And you know what I have found out you know who your friends are when no one helps you out but yet you are always helping them out. So I have been washing mine and my son clothes out by hand since I have no means of transportation. Anyone else have friends and family like that someone who wants you to help them but do not want to help you in return.

Most places will deliver a washer and dryer for you and even install it, so I'm not sure why you haven't done that.  I know what you mean about friends not being very helpful.

Can't say I don't know that struggle. There have been times when I had to wash me and my sons clothes out on my hands. I am so very thankful for the washer and dryer that I have now. Yes it is used but it works just as good as any. I never really asked anyone to use their washer and dryer because I know how some people can be. But I am always more then willing to let someone use mine. And if you where here I would do the same. I pray the good Lord sends a washer and dryer your way so nice that is will lat a life time.

washer and dyers are expensive sometimes people can't help you get them but i dont' see why not they shouldn't let you use them to wash and dry your clothes. i'm lucky my mom will help me with mine if i can't get to the laundry matt.  No matter what she washes my sons clothes not all the time mine and my husbands but we can deal with that :P

Magical intercessory rituals don't provide washers & dryers; people do.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

If possible, you could call a taxi and go to the laundrymat or buy online and have them deliver/install.

Sometimes things can be very difficult in life.  I've been through the same things at times.  What did civilization do before washers and dryers - or electricity for that matter?

I applaud you for getting in there, pulling your sleeves up and applying some good old-fashioned elbow grease!  :notworthy:

Tough to not have the things that you need and also feel that no one is helping you when you most need it.  When I'm in that place I remind myself that I'm glad I'm someone who does help out when I can and hope always to be that person.  I noticed another member congratulated you for doing what you need to do to get the job done.  I want to congratulate you too.  You haven't let the fact that you don't have a washer/dryer stop you from getting the job done.  I admire that.  Good luck and keep your head up!

I am in agreement with Falcon 9.  Pointing fingers gets you know where unless you turn your hand around and point to yourself.  I takes forever to make a friend but just a few misguided actions and/or statements to lose that friend.  They could be saying things about you like "why doesn't she buy a new/used washer/dryer?" or "why doesn't she go to the laundromat?".  If you have fallen on hard times, and the washer/dryer means the world to you, there are always options.  Another job?  More hours at your current job?  More on-line work? Section 8 Housing generally provides appliances...maybe it is time to move?  I have furnished rentals with used wahers/dryers for less than $150.00.  It is time to stop pointing fingers and become more resourceful.

I understand and am in a similar position.  You can tell by the posts who gets it and who doesn't.  I had to move from a broken down place with w/d and a clothesline to a good place without.  My only transport is a trike.  Laundry is an extra bill and chunk of time I have trouble coming up with.  None of my friends live close nor has anyone taken the hint to offer their machines to use.  Hang in there, stay positive and keep your mind open to possibilities.  We'll get through this.  You are not alone.   :angel11:

Wow; I am so sorry to hear about your situation. That's terrible that your family isn't helping you out.  I can honestly say that my family has been really great. I also have some great friends that have helped me out in troubled times. Hopefully things will start getting better for you.

Sometimes people are dense and you have to ask for what you want and stop just hinting at it. Saying to your friend "Can I use your washer and dryer?" "What time or day works well for you" is a lot different than saying "Man it really sucks that I have to wash all my clothes in the bathtub and I don't have a washer or dryer. " If you still can't get any help then take it into your own hands and buy one, rent one, take a taxi to a laundromat, post on craigslist that you are in need of a place to wash clothing near your home, etc.. There are lots of creative ways to solve the problem.

maybe if you offered to pay a little to have your friends/family let you use their washer and dryer it really does add to a water bill and electric bill to do just a couple more loads I know I do my grandson's laundry plus I have a extra person in my house I do her laundry as well there has been a big difference in my electric and water bill sometimes people are barely making the bills but don't say anything to anyone else about how hard it is . Hang in there I have done my families clothes in the tub and hung to dry it does suck its hard work hope things get better for you soon
