Imagine all the people who are living under the bridge who can't get on section 8. There are alot of homeless people out there, we sweep them under the rug. They are hot, nowhere to go, no where to lay their head, and in the winter they freeze, they have no where to cook a meal, they are most likely depressed. Be happy you have a home, but I think one shouldn't push themselves to always do better. Wouldn't you be happy if you earned things, if you made money, I am not sure if you are able, but if people are able they should try.

If you can work, you should in my opinion.  Some of the people in my extended family have been collecting money from the government pretty much all my life and all they do is complain about not having enough, and then the next thing they do is spend all their money on whatever they want.  My aunt and cousin live together and are capable of doing things but I think they believe the world gets everything for free and they are the only ones paying.  The cousin gets paid to take care of her mother (how many other get paid for that) and to clean their apartment and she won't even do that.  Another uncle had a job and basically yelled at his boss cause the boss didn't inform him about needed a license plate for that state.  On top of that, he won't get a part time job or anything to help.  In fact, him and his wife lost their house because of it.  And on the other hand, my one aunt has epilepsy and can't get a job and she can't get government help.

It won't be easy.  You'll have to save for a while before things will get easier.

I understand the system may not be perfect but it is there for people to get help from. I have worked for 32 years and paid for plenty of things. Working is a good thing because you keep active and you feel better about yourself. I would not call what you're doing leeching, but to not get a job because of it is not a good thing to do. They do have supplement help as well. So if you did get a job and could not afford certain ings, you could still get help from the government. There are many programs out there.

I have never received government assistance. I work a full time job, a part time job, have a part time side business and do things like fusion cash for extra money.  I would love it if the taxpayers paid my mortgage for just one month! Boy would that help out here!  As a taxpayer, section 8 does suck if the people on it don't try to get off by bettering themselves.
