some posts not counting
« on: July 26, 2012, 05:42:27 pm »
I think that is just plain mean of FC to not count all posts, do they not realize that there are some of us who don't have the imagination or knowledge to discuss things or come up with topics to discuss. Please FC reconsider this policy.

Im new to this and I don't see what policy are you talking about here. I am just going with the flow and everything I have posted has been adding up which makes it great for me to hit 30 before the end of this month. So if I were you I would just reply to everything and everyone just to see what happens.  Only those who proceed..succeed. Wish you the best of luck in solving the problem...

You know that is great advice. What aggravates me is that they had approved me for 30 posts then took all but 5 away. I don't think that is fair.

" ... we're offering a bonus of $3 each month you make 30 or more contributory posts in the forum. Here are the details:

- You must make the posts during a calendar month as measured by FusionCash's official time (located in the top right of each page).
- Bonuses will be credited at the end of following month; please allow UP TO 65 days for crediting.
- A contributory post is one that offers some insight, makes people laugh, carries a conversation, provides information or help, or something along those lines.  It's not spam, or an attempt to make money for oneself, and it's not short or missing content.  Basically, if you post just to meet the 30 post requirement, you wont qualify"

These aren't "new rules", these have been the rules since I've been posting on FC.  I never could comprehend how c&p posts of  "Hans Christian Andersen, Nursery Rhymes, and the Bible" could qualify for payment.

Neither could I, which is why I previously quoted the same information from FC's FAQ.  What's revealing is that one of the members doing so apparently decided to leave FC once they could no longer get posting credit for c&p posts.

I let it go on for a while for two reasons.
1) We subscribe to a 'less is more' moderation philosophy and intervene in the community/change its parameters only when necessary
2) A number of members were making contributory posts in excess of 30/mo, and then also enjoying posting in word games and c&p festivals.  I don't have a problem with that.  I didn't want to deprive them of an enjoyable (and long-running) pastime.

So in the end, my solution was to move those threads to a subforum where the posts don't count.  That way, those who were posting in those threads IN ADDITION to their contributory posts can continue to do so.  And those who were using it as an excuse to avoid spending 30 seconds actually thinking about what to post, no longer have that avenue for abuse.

I'd also like to mention that there are certainly appropriate and contributory ways to have some copied and pasted content in your post.  For example, let's say you read an interesting news article.  You can make a new topic about it, with a link to the article, some quotes from it, and your own commentary/analysis (as long as the link is to a major site and not your cousin's hinkydink blog).

If you're not posting quality posts, then you don't really deserve to get paid for posting in my opinion. I think that's why FC works the way that they do. I've never had a post not count. Well, maybe I have, but if I post something that I didn't think adds any value to this site, I make sure that I post more than 30 posts before trying to cash out for the month.

My biggest suggestion is to look for questions, and then provide the answers. If you know how FC works, you can help out the newbies and earn money at the same time.

Basically I need to post things that are funny and interesting.  You can't post more than 9 in a 24 hour time frame which is acceptable.  So I keep reading about the 30 day time frame can you fill me in on where to find the information on how the whole 30 post thing works and when it renews and starts over, or does it even start over and go back to zero?

It's 30 posts minimum  per calendar month. The 9 post limit it only for newbies and that ban will be removed once you go up to the next level.

Thanks Kohler for the explanation. I don't usually participate in those endless meaningless threads, but it did seem that people were going overboard with them. I'm glad that people can still do that stuff if they want, but they won't get paid for it.

I haven't noticed that some posts don't count. I make sure that I at least write a couple of sentences about the topic to make sure. If that isn't the problem then maybe your posts are off topic to the discussion. See what ones didn't count and try to do better next time. Better luck next time.

Just keep posting. As you keep posting, you keep moving up in levels. When you get to 50 posts, you then move from newbie to jr. level.
