Election
« on: October 02, 2012, 02:19:07 pm »
Is it just me or is everyone getting tired of seeing all the election news?  We still have a long way to go before election day, but I'm tired of seeing the ads on tv, in the newspaper, and the signs in people's yards.  :BangHead:

On the contrary. I find the topic of government (including who should be president.) to be one that should be talked about daily. If the public was more educated about politics and actually messaged their brains once and a while we may not be in such a mess. Why is the public so scared of thinking about important things?

Here is how I keep away from all that I don't have TV. So I get all my political information from what I read, so I choose what I hear about. I don't have to listen to all the political propaganda about did or didn't do what. I can look up and research each candidate and make an informed choice without all the other stuff.

Never, Ever good idea to discuss politics.  It always ends up in big fight whether on here or in person.  Every one has their views and should be respected for it.  Whether you agree or not, accept it.

So we should never debate about politics? No, just because you have a view or opinions doesn't mean I have to respect it. I have to respect your right to have that opinion, but to suggest that I have to respect that opinions itself to the point I cannot express dissent is the very notion of censorship and should be frowned upon. If you have an opinion, be prepared to have opponents whether you want to or not. If you cannot handle opposition, don't even bother having an opinion.

If only "We the People" of the United States actually knew what our rights as citizens actually are and what the intended role of the government and the elected officials (regardless of political affiliation) is supposed to be....well sadly, :'( that is not the case.  This is the very reason that unsavory politicians get away with what they do and all with the "blessing" of the people.
