Just Stephen King books made into movies alone would be enough to fill a small DVD library!  (The Shining, Cujo, Carrie, Christine, Children of the Corn, Desperation, Rose Red, Salem's Lot, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Thinner... could go on and on and on!)

the shining, the green mile, and shawshank redemption
are all on my "favorite movie" list. i can't say that i've
ever read a stephen king book, though. for a somewhat
avid reader, i know that's preposterous! i just finished
a book, so maybe i'll pick up something by king soon.

The Firm has become a TV show. I have never watched it but I have seen the movie about 50 times.

They should make the Wheel of Time series into a tv show.  I heard Ender's Game is going to become a movie.  Might be good.

I love to read and generally enjoy the books more than the show/movies.

I think Carrie and Jaws were the scariest books I've ever read and then the movies were even scarier!  I still get chills thinking about the end of the movie Carrie and I knew what was coming.  I started reading Jaws in the bathtub and had to get out before finishing the first chapter.

I have seen some movies that have been made based on books.
Sometimes, the book is better.
Sometimes, the movie is better.

Some of my favorite shows apparently came from books, so I'm all for it!  :)

im an avid reader, but usually the movie ends up falling short for me because they can never give as much detail as the books do :(

I have heard lots of people say the movie "help" stayed very close to the book. I did not read the book

The movies often use books as a source of inspiration. But not everything translates well to film. One of the best I've seen is Cannery Row, a very underrated film.

I read The Color Purple when I was younger and they also came out with the movie. I did like the movie but I must say I enjoyed the book better.

Most of these listed are movies not TV shows.   Little house on the prairy was a TV show based on a book series, and Walking Dead is a TV show based on a graphic novel.
