Snap out of it!  I'm 61 and I refer to 50-year-olds as youngsters.  Don't concern yourself with others opinions.  Its your life. Now make the most of it.

Im getting closer to 60 every year. not sure were the years have gone.  Can still do most of the things I did in my 40's.  Hope once I retire and have more time can get in shape to do thing I cann't do right now.

Feeling old happens when you start comparing yourself with some other young person. Think about the person older than you, and then you would feel better.

I think 50 is young still. Growing up most of my friends were all older than me. So even though I am getting older, I still feel young. I wish my husband would quit placing so much emphais on age. It already caused problems in our family. as long as someone is looking at age, instead of who they are, it will cause problems, look at who you are inside, age is only wisdom. we will all go be with God some day and then age will be nothing.

Some of the things that help me move on when I am bothered by my age include humor (always a great medicine), learning a new skill or hobby, meditating on scripture, and doing something nice for someone else/someone new-- not your usual caregiving recipient.  Exercise also helps to release endorphins that elevate mood.  I have read that making/looking through photograph albums is a mood elevator.  Best wishes to you; I hope this helps

I just wondered if everyone when they get my age feel depressed over being old.  I am 50 and lately I find myself feeling like fun is only for young people.  It seems like all I do is go through the motions of life to try to take care of others in my family.  I have been thinking about when I was younger and wishing I was young again.  I feel like after you get older all there is is work and worry and that unless you are young and attractive you just blend into the woodwork and don't really matter anymore.

i dont think 50 is old at all

Went back to the doctor today and he is now going to refer me to a rheumatologist and he ran some more tests.  Aches and pains are really bad and my blood pressure was really high and he also put me on antidepressants.  Whew!  Alot going on, but your comments have made me feel better.  Thanks for listening.

I had to laugh because my mom showed me a letter today that she got from a relative.  The lady is 85 and in the letter she said that she really feels about 45.  I am the opposite.  lol  I am really going to try to get to the root of my pain and then do what I need to so I can start feeling better and have a better attitude.

Yes, me too. I am feeling pretty depressed about being old. 52 and ageing. Not at all fun.  Really have a problem with white hairs. I don't know how people deal with this.

Age is only a number, its what you make out of your life that is important. I just turned 60 and I don't feel any different than I did when I turned 50, maybe a little slower but that's physical not mental. Frame of mind is so important.

While it's impossible to turn back the clock, the idea is intriguing.  However, there's plenty of life to be had after 50 (I'm 48)... I think the old adage you're as young as you feel still applies today.

I've heard that this kind of thinking really does help. My parents are in their 60s and they're out having a lot more fun that I do, now that they are empty nesters. They both work, but they go hiking and take local trips just about every weekend. If they're not driving to some local place, they're having people over for game night, movie night, book clubs, or just for fun. They're always finding ways to have fun. I sometimes envy them since I am busy changing diapers, cleaning up after all my kids' messes- especially my tornado toddler ( I love him, but he finds stuff and throws it all over the place- I can't quite keep up with him!).

You can find me on Youtube!
