Anxiety attack
« on: December 05, 2012, 12:45:22 pm »
Hi, I had a hysterectomy done last friday, now having anxiety attacks, do you know how to overcome them without medicine? My doctor says is normal and I should go back to normal within a few weeks, but the attacks are driving me nuts.

I don't know much about those. What is an anxiety attack?

Anxiety attacks are the absolute worst. You feel terrified when there's nothing to be terrified of. I've been on Xanax for awhile now for my anxiety but to treat it without medicine? Maybe try meditation and deep breathing exercises. Nothing "natural" helped me so that's why I had to resort to medication. Good luck! Trust me, I know how horrible it is.

Certain vitamins and supplements may help.

Sorry you are having such difficulties.  I remember when I had my hysterectomy and having those awful feelings the only way I overcame them was to take deep breaths, listen to soothing music and tried relaxing as much as possible.  Hopefully this will help you some.  Oh, and don't let all the other stuff get in the way either.  By that I mean, wanting to do your regular routine on a daily basis.  I know I couldn't even do housework after my surgery and that was really bugging me so I was real anxious to get back to normal.  Hopefully you are not experiencing any of that.  I do wish you well and hope you recover quickly.  Just remember to BREATH!!!!!!!!!!

I have never had a hysterectomy but know what it's like to have anxiety attacks. There are some herbs that can help like passion flower. Getting some magnesium and daily supply of calcium can help too. Calming teas may also help. Don't let it get to bad without talking to your DR more about. Anxiety can be hell on your health. God Bless. Hope you find some relief.

I have been suffering from anxiety for about three years now. One day I all of a sudden started having chest pains and feeling short of breathe while at work. I thought that I was having heart problems. After being seen by several doctors I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder. I was offered medication but I declined. Anxiety disorder is something that I will probably suffer from for most of my life. Stress triggers it, and also being in situations that make you feel anxious. Exercising properly and eating healthy is the best way to deal with anxiety.

I have only had a few anxiety attacks but I know they are awful and extremely scary.
I get through them with rationalization and breathing exerecises.
I reasure myself that it is just a reaction of the body and mind to stress. I take slow, deep, controlled breaths and sit down. Laying down makes it hard too the breathing.

The hardest part is trying to stay calm. I have to keep reminding myself that it will pass.

I hope this helps

Definitley hormone imbalances can lead to anxiety attacks.  I was having them bad for year-year/half.  Things are getting better, I can now control them more, I hated the feeling of heart racing, quesy, shakey, sweating. . .Now I recognize one coming on, tell my self that I am okay, going to be fine, if I need to I will put on some easy listening music, or find something else to do to take my mind off it.

Try different breathing techniques.  You should be able to google it if you would like to not take medicine.

I suffer from Panic attacks and Anxiety attacks.  They are the worst feelings in the world.  The fear comes from no where, the heart palpitations, the sweating, the feeling of passing out.  It can stop you from having a life.  Herbal supplements was no help so I am on Medications.  Never Had a Hysterectomy.

I understand the attacks, well of having them anyway. Wish I could understand why the occur, then maybe we wouldn't have them. Mine come and go. The worst one that I can remember is waking up in the middle of the night with a fear that something was wrong, but didn't know what, or where, or even how. Then I started thinking I was dying, scarey stuff! I don't take meds on a daily basis because I don't like the thought of taking the drugs everyday when I may not be having the attacks. If the become more frequent then I will see about the meds on a more normal basis. Good luck to you and take care!
