Is anyones elses new year starting off bad or just me?

My back went out today and my desktop broke down, I don't have any money to replace it and I need to start school in 2 weeks. Not starting great.

Started off with a migraine headache and got into a disagreement with my 17 year old daughter. So no not just you. I hope it gets better.

I was involuntarily terminated from a seasonal part time on the 28th. On Monday (12/31) I had a interview with another company and was on my way home, when they called and offered me a full time position at starting at their highest pay scale.  So far so good (unlike last year, where I was involuntarily committed for 72 hours). I start on Thursday.

Not me, I finished up a major money making project New Years Day that I have been struggling with and started a new cash flow stream. Life is great!

This year is starting off as planned for me, I haven't had anything good or bad happen (yet), but I would suggest for both of you to focus on solutions instead of the problem.

For instance:  see if you can rent another computer.  My ex husband just rented one for $80 per month and his credit is SHOT. If that's not an option, talk to the library about reserving you a computer for school work during operating hours.  If that's not an option, maybe you have a friend who'd be willing to let you use their computer until you replace yours.  As far as the migraines, are you taking anything for them? If you can't get to the doctor right away try Excedrin Migraine.  Then, speak with your 17 year old about what's REALLY going on.  A lot of times an argument is a cover up for a deeper underlying problem, or maybe she's just being a teen (lol).  Schedule a date with her where you two window shop at the mall and then find a nice place to eat there and site down and really talk. If it's just growing pains it'll pass.  Hopes this helps!

Just another day at the office for me, but I telecommute from home and made overtime.  At least it wasn't freezing outside.  I live in Florida.

Ehh...no day on the calendar holds that much significance to me. The "start of a new year" has no bearing on what will happen to you, good or bad.

i spent my last day of 12 in miami then orlando, i think that was good start since the weather there was so beautiful, compare to my frozen place
