There is an old man who walks our neighborhood a couple of time every day.  He must be terribly healthy!  Wish I could at least when it isn't so cold but I'm only good for about half a block these days :(

I took a class in collage that I had to walk for 1 hour. It was good I would walk from my home to the collage. I was doing good. I got an A+. I wanted to continue and started walking in my naiborhood until a dog chase me. I haven't gone out since, I'm afraid another dog might chase. I'm very afraid of dog. I know they say that you shouldn't run, but its hard not to when you are so afraid of them.  :(

Walking is one of the best ways to stay healthy and control your weight.  I try to walk daily.  It makes me enjoy the wonderful state I live in.

I am disabled and I have trouble walking but I do it all I can and I never ride those carts at the grocery store - people are always saying why don't you get a cart and I say because once you start you never stop and as long as I can walk I am sure going to do so.

If you have trouble walking, you can always go in pool, preferably heated. If you have a flotation device, you can walk pain free with no stress to your joints. Even a little leg motion will benefit your heart.

There is a great quote..  One of my favorites!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."

My mother says the same thing about driving. I try to get her to let me drive her wherever she needs to go, but she always tells me, "Pretty soon I won't be able to, then you can take over, but as long as I am able I will do it myself!" She just turned 81 years old today! Happy birthday, Mom!

it's too dang cold in cleveland to get out and walk
(or maybe i'm just a baby, but 21 degrees says otherwise!)
...i can't wait until spring when i can finally stretch my legs
again! once i started walking, i wanted to go a little further
every few weeks. i walk about twice the length that i started
out walking. it's kind of addicting!
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I walk a lot and love too! When it's too cold, I don't seem to love it as much. Walking's good!

I agree with walking.  It can be such a peaceful time for reflection.  I've been known to walk alone, with my husband, with my kids, with all of us together.  We love walking even if it's just out around our neighborhood....no matter what the whether.  As long as we're dressed properly we're out walking a few days a week.  Now that we're out in the country more though we are considering purchasing a treadmill.
