No - I'm a body donator.  When I die, my whole body will go to a medical university for medical students to learn from.

I am an organ donar as is my husband and daughter. But I do want to touch on a few of the early posts. When you sign up to be an organ donar you just sign the card then state you want to donate whatever can be used. Did you know they can also use your eyes and heart valves? One eye can go to help 10 people. And if you do the skin donation it is just a thin layer of skin taken usually from the back, kinda of like if you pull a cuticle. There is also marrow that can be taken and such. We found all of this out just over 13 years ago when my oldest daughter died. They weren't able to use her lungs becasue of the asthma nor her marrow, bones or skin because she was only 7 1/2. But we did give her kidneys, eyes and heart valves. We know that one of her kidneys went to a woman in her fifties and that it saved her life based on what we were told. It made us feel good to know that after loosing her she was able to help someone else.

Yeah it might. But what I didn't say was when the team at the hospital came to us and asked if we'd like to organ donation on behalf of our daughter my husband didn't want to at first. I had to tell him that we were listed as donars and if she could save even one person after loosing her then it wouldn't have been all in vain. I guess more people just need to be told the advantages of organ donation.

I am! It kind of creeps me out though. Just thinking about my body being cut up and put into other people's bodies...eghhh. But I do what I can to help the general population!

I would love to be but my husband is against it.  So I comparmized and told him if I am dead and they need an organ please give it.  My husband is afraid they won't do everything to save me first if I am an organ donor.  He says they are already stopping seniors from getting expensive help why save me.  Gives good points and hes the one left behind, so I think it should be his choose.

I am, not only for the usual donations but also for tissue/whole body.  It's wonderful that we can go on living in another person, in a sense, and save or prolong so many lives.

I am, and I would also be willing to be used for any other way that might help someone, like for medical students or anything like that.  I'll be dead and it won't really matter anymore, so I just hope that my body can get put to good use.

In my experience with organ donation it wasn't until they said my daughter was brain dead that they brought it up to us. We wouldn't have wanted her to live as a vegitable. your husband may be the one left behind but you can't even tell that there has been a donation once the person is dressed and laid out in the coffen. Bring up this point to your husband : what if they have to do an Autopsy on you? They already have you cut open so why not donate?

Yes, I am. I think it's important to help someone else, and I won't be using them anymore.  :P
