I'm thinking on moving back to the U.S. my biggest reason for not moving back, is that I have heard that health insurance is so costly. that some families cut back so much on there food bill and other bills just so they can have health insurances. I've lived here in western Canada for close to 25 years but go home to the u.s to visit every year. But with the universal health care that we have here in Saskatchewan. we go to the doctors and we never get a office bill, we go to emergency room and we never get a bill. We only pay 25% of the cost of any prescription. The only thing we might get a bill for is a portion of an ambulance bill. When went home last summer, my husband went into a low blood sugar and we took him to emergency and we were about 2hours and they gave him an IV with some glucose and we got a bill for 3,600 U.S thank God we took out travel insurance or we would be paying for years on that bill.
So, my question to you all is how can I find a reasonable health insurance company that will cover my diabetic husband, my daughter that has asthma and Im in a wheelchair from having polio as a child.
Any suggestions

I'm sure some people will get offended, but I don't care. It seems the only way to get low-cost (if you pay anything at all) medical care in the US, is to be an illegal alien or to be a member of the Government. Other than that, you're probably screwed. Not what you want to hear I'm sure, but that's pretty much how it is right now.

I would say you would have to shop around and pick the one that you need. I would think everybody as different reasons and needs.

Does not seem to be possible unless you are an illegal alien. If you find out please let everyone else know the answer.

Yes and in 2015 everyone is going to be made to get health insurance, and if you don't you will be charged a hefty fine on your taxes! :peace:

We used to have Kaiser and that was so good, myhusband went in the hospital for a few days the whole cost was 10.00.we got new insurance through his job and one blood test for him nothing else cost us over 200.00.I know to that if you go to emergency room could cost 1000.00.i'd be like let me die don't want to pay that much. I do hope the Obama care will be cheaper.

folks if you think obama care is going to be cheaper forget it. And they will be telling us what test we need and wheather we can get treatments. I haven't  been able  to read all of the obamacare bill but a lot of what i read i hope and pray it gets repealed. There was an awul lot of blank pages  in what i was reading to be added later. So we wil be in for a bumpy ride. Gongress want be on it of course and medicaide will be taking care of all the non working on welfare. So guess it just leaves all the hardworking people to pay for it.

Health insurance is beyond our budget.  My husband is disabled and has medicare.  My employer does not offer insurance.  I can't afford a decent policy on my salary.  With that said, I put my faith in the Lord to keep me well and to take care of me when I don't feel well because I can't afford to go see a doctor.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi,
When you come back to the US, you could check and find out if you are eligible for medical assistance.  Healthcare is a serious national problem.  A viable solution must be found.  Those people who are without health insurance are certainly in a very difficult situation.
