My grandmother and I once had a day to ourselves when my siblings were all out with my parents. I used to get car sick so I stayed behind. Grandma was cooking that day and she was making rolls from scratch. She had made a pan full of some of the most beautiful dinner rolls I ever saw in my life. I had those little pans from my play-set and my grandmother let me make little tiny rolls in my pan and cook them. You could not tell me I wasn't cooking, that is one of my fondest memories of my childhood. :angel11:

When i fell about 30' and had to have surgery in the 3rd. grade. But will always remember living with my grandma and grandpa when i was in the first grade. I rode the coal train once a month too see my parents. They lived way out in the county on a ranch and there was no bus service for school for me. Oh how i loved my grannie and grandpa.

The most memorable thing for me was that we could be outside til like 10:00.  We rode bikes to the lake to swim and were gone all day and
we could Trick or Treat on Halloween until midnight.  Our neighborhood was full of kids and we would play kick the can every night.
Lots of fun!!!

I remember all of us kids had so much fun in the summer.  We all had bikes and went all over, with no fear and our parents had no fear for us either (times were so different then).  We played kick ball in the field behind our houses, went swimming at the city pool, just did kid things.  We knew all the parent's front doors were open and we were always allowed in any house for bathroom, drinks, etc.  the neighborhood rule was when the street lights came on, we had to head home for the night.

My child hood was fife with fond memories. I have a crib memory of getting my paren's attention by throwing a toy against a door.  I remember incurring my father's wrath by accidently knocking over his cocktail on one sunny Sunday afternoon...he chased me for a lock and a half. I remember writing a story entitled "Great American Father" about my dad who was anything but.  I remember riding my three speed bicycle with a banana seat, sissy bar, and wild handle bars and being the envy of the neighborhood children.  I hated vacations because we always had to drive...couldn't afford airfare. Probably the most memorable was the day, I was twelve, that my mother had divorce papers served on my scoundrel of a father.
