What is THAT Sound???
« on: April 09, 2013, 08:18:44 am »
I was awakened this morning to a sound I haven't heard in a LONG time!!

THUNDER!!

First there was a huge flash of lightning that I "saw" through my closed eyelids, then a huge clap of thunder.

I was very excited to hear thunder and see the rain, but it is cold enough that it is freezing and accumulating ice on the trees.  Hopefully, it will warm up enough to have the ice fall off and not cause havoc with power lines and breaking tree branches.

We really need the rain, though.  We have been in drought conditions for some time.

Where exactly is this taking place? I'm in NJ, and it's like 80 degrees out and beautiful!

Wow, where do you live? I live in VA and it feels like summer even though it is only Spring.

Oh I love the sound of thunder and really miss it. We rarely get any here and it's always welcome when I'm visiting family in the midwest . Nothing like getting cozy inside with a hot cup of constant comment and a good book.

We have a massive amount of tree branches down  (same storm) and the town is a mess.

90 degrees in D.C. right now, but my parents in Wisconsin are expecting a foot of snow today. It's crazy how the weather is so different just a small distance away.

This picture is from my window in southwestern Minnesota.  This was BEFORE it kept raining and freezing.  Now our town looks like a tornado went through it because the ice broke so many tree branches and/or whole trees.  We also got snow on top of the ice so the weight on the trees was too much.

I was awakened this morning to a sound I haven't heard in a LONG time!!

I live in the lightening capital of the world.....Tampa Bay. I always enjoy thunder and lightening as long as it's not too close. Out here we have to be careful when outdoors..people get struck by lightening sometimes.

Goodness, it seems that Minnesota doesn't want to let go of winter very easily!  I like your picture!

We had some ice in our area late last week, but it wasn't enough to break branches or trees. There was a lot of wind and rain that knocked the power out in different places. the temperature has been fluctuating a lot here in upstate NY. We go from 60 degree days, to 30 degree days. Right now it's about 50, but raining like anything.
