Why I don't watch the news?

I don't watch the news because all you hear is bad and sad news around the world. By not watching T.V. I feel happier. However, I get my news on the internet and stay in tune with the world as far as what is going on.  My thoughts and prayers are with those people from Boston. So sad to know we live in a world of chaos and no one knows what to do about it. How can anyone feel safe anymore? Enjoy every minute of your life, the minute you wake up. Pray everyday and think positive as often as you can. I wish I had the power to change the world for the better and not for the worst. I hope things will get better. I hope God will punish those people responsible for the Boston bombings.

I am right there with ya.  The News on TV is nothing but bad news and anything good they might say is not worth hearing anyway.  Terribly sad about the occurrence in Boston and I too pray for those who were injured and their families and hope the perpetrator is captured.

I agree-- i don't like to watch the news because it is depressing! There is always something bad happening, some crazy idiot who just wants their 15 minutes of fame and does something horrific to get that and the news, of course, will be right there giving them what they want.

My mother said to me the other day that she heard someone say years ago "It's only news if it's bad news". I agree with that statement. So much news was bad that I didn't want to watch it and to be honest I've never been much a news viewer either way so it didn't bother me to miss it.

I get most of my news from the internet by reading articles and the occasional video. That is fine for me and I don't intend to change it. I'm not really a big tv watcher anyway so the internet would be my main source for getting news anyway.

I mainly like to listen to entertainment and sports news. It can be helpful sometimes to watch the regular news, because of medical information that we should know about.

I have heard so many comments here lately on how bad and corrupt this world is!!!   Its not the world, its the people in it!  So many evil people who care nothing about anybody or anything!   When God created this world, he created it perfect.  It was us the people that made it what it is today!

It is not one of my favorites, but do like to get the weather, which is right 50% of the time. Except for the wind. Once in a while there will be something great on. One i like the most is to see the children when their parnets come home from overseas. Those are tearjerks. But when they show something awful over and over i tend to tune it out.

I read the news on UPI's website each day.  For me, it's the best way to get legitimate news.  I think television news has been deteriorating for many years.

Yes there is a lot of bad news.  There is too much news too.  News never used to be 24/7.  There is too much information.  There are so many stories that just speculate what may happen and they are considered news?

Not watching it don't make it go away, look at it this way, people don't go to church because they think God isn't there if they don't go to church but God is still there...things still happen whether we hear about them, acknowledge them or see them, they are still there. God is still there, evil is still there. But in the end God has won. So that can be something you can think about when you hear all the bad stuff going on in this world.

I don't ever watch the news unless I want the local weather, most of the time I look that up on the computer even.  Why watch it?  Its all bad stuff, and then the  media uses all the bad stuff to try to get their agendas passed, like gun control, gay marriages, etc...why bother? I don't agree with any of that, and the media is always liberal so no point to even support it.  Just saying..

I do not like listening to the news as most of the time it is depressing, sad and almost always negative events.  The only time a positive event is covered if it is a result of a new invention, or a possible cure to a disease or someone winning a marathon or sports event.  Otherwise it all about crimes, finding unknown bodies, etc.
