My current cat isn't bad about papers.  Her thing is plastic bags.  She licks them, bats at them so they make noise, drags them down off the counter where I store them, and sometimes goes running through the house carrying them on her mouth.  They really fascinate her for some reason.

My cat also licks them, like in a crazy kind of way! I read that there is animal fats rendered in the plastic and this possibly that is what the cats are picking up on.

I wasn't aware of that.  If that's the case, then that explains a lot.  Part of the reason I don't want her messing with them is because I don't know exactly what's in them.  I've tried using reusable bags more, but I think that just makes her more determined to get at the plastic ones that are left.

My cat has always been bad about laying in papers i am working on, but now he lays on myt laptop too. I thought he just liked paper but realize he just wants my attention when im busy, lol.

anyone else have this experience?
 :cat:

My cat, Smokey, LOVES papers, paper bags, plastic bags, and boxes.  I call him "The Garbage Man," LOL.  When we shop, as I'm putting away all the groceries I throw the plastic bags in a pile on the floor.  Smokey makes himself right at home in the pile of bags.  If there's a box available, it doesn't matter how big or small that box is, he's cramming his entire being in to it and will go to sleep.

Is your cat screaming because he's in pain, or is he just bored and needs some entertainment?

I have not had a cat for years....my current landlord not pet friendly.....I use to have a cat my son names Bob...it was a girl, she was a big yellow and white cat with a bob tail....the dogs in the area were afraid of bob she could beat'em  she was a good cat....on evening about five dogs trapped her under the house and killed her....if they had attacked her in the open she could have defended herself and got in the house.....I have not had a cat since....

I think cats teach other to do this to their humans -- walk on papers and books.  Our cats do it, too.  "No!  You shall not read, you shall adore me!"

Here is an image of a 15th century manuscript which shows cat paws on it.  Apparently, this author had a similar problem with his cat.   :cat:

My current cat is a calico.  And it is so funny.  If I start to pack a suitcase, my kitty will crawl into the luggage and lay on the clothes.  Also, she is a persistent meower - loves to talk. LOL.  I even have to be with her when she is eating.  If I leave, she stops eating almost immediately, even if she is hungry.  She then meows for me to go back to keep her company while she eats.  She does this to me when she wants to sleep.  She cannot stand sleeping alone.  If she wants to sleep, I must also.

Yes. My cat will lay on my papers, computer, beside my computer.

I remember when he started playing with the straw in my drink. He will also play with the pencil or pen that I try to write with.

Recently, he walked across my keyboard and it took me a couple of minutes to get back to the right screen. I was a little upset that day because I was afraid he did something to my laptop. Luckily he didn't.

Cats definitely let you know when they want attention.  Our cat Sweetie is pretty laid back though.  She usually just hangs out in her rocking chair in our living room.

I've only had a cat as my pet once in my lifetime.  It thought cats were such cute pets, until my cat became fascinated with my sofa.  I purchase all types of cat toys and cat food to distract my cat from my sofa.  Nothing worked!  The cat began clawing my sofa.  My sofa was torn and natty.  Then my cat brought dead rats into the house and began hiding them under the sofa.  What was it with my sofa?  Afterwards, large snakes came into the house to eat the dead mice under the sofa.  Then the snakes migrated to my two small children's bedrooms.  Now, my house was infiltrated with large snakes in the walls, under my sofa, under the foundation of the house, and of course, under the sofa.  I had to get rid of my cat, the sofa, and the snakes.
