Up until about two years ago I made it my goal to send out a letter a day. My kids would get a card every month, my parents would get a letter once a month, my wife would get a couple of cards and I would make it a habit to sit down and think of all the people who deserved a Thank you in my life.  Clients would all get letters of Thanks for recent business. Referral sources would all get a hand written Thank you.  I even sent letters to corporations telling them what a wonderful worker they had if I came across someone who gave exceptional service.  My job focus has changed and I have gotten away from the customer service side of things.

 YES i still hand write letters to my family. Especially my mom. She lives about 4 hours from me. If I didnt HAND write a letter to her, she would not let me live it done. Once in awhile she also likes a TYPED letter from me! She is 84 and acts like shes 20 and she is in great health except a bit of arthritis which she uses cream to help with the aches. She walks every day also. I still love to hand write letters!

I used to write letters to my grandma until she died a few years ago. I don't write to anyone else now.

Yes I do! There is a personal feeling that I think is conveyed when you write a handwritten note. The feeling of affection cannot be given with computer notes as I call them. I love writing letters and I love getting notes like that it's sweet and it's romantic. :)

Writing letters has always been a chore for me.  I tend to be a slow writer and have to struggle to fill a page or two with something that might be of interest to the recipient.  Email is great because one can keep it brief and to the point-- no stamps or envelopes to mess with.  The only "real letters" I write are to a child I sponsor in another country.

No letters, I do write thank you notes, and I always write a little something on a card, but that's about it.

Me, I do.  I have to write handwritten letters because my mom won't go online.  She lives 4 hours away from me.  I don't get good phone service where I live.  So pretty much I have to write her letters to keep her in touch.  She don't write back much but its ok, she's getting old.  I still am gonna send her stuff from me.

I've written letters to my Uncle for years. After his wife died I started writing him so he wouldn't be lonely. We've been writing each other for over 13 years. He sends me jokes and cartoons from Ladies Home Journal. I try to write him once a month.

It's wonderful to receive a hand written letter from someone and to know they cared enough to take the time to sit down and write a letter just to say hello and that they're thinking about you! I have a terrible hand writing and if I write to someone, I try to print it so it doesn't look so bad and is easier to read. Most people I know don't even bother to send an email anymore...they'd rather do it on FB and just use numbers and shortcut words like a text message.

It has been years and years since I actually attempted to write a hand written letter.  I know it's more personal, but a lot less time consuming than typing one on the computer.
