Our converter box works too, although my husband got rather tired of watching the same old thing day in and day out.  He wanted to get cable TV, so we did.  He is complaining now because of the cost of cable TV. :sad1: :sad1:

We had a converter box when we had our old t.v. We upgraded to an hdtv and now all we need is an antenna to watch t.v. I just got out of a satellite t.v. contract and we're back on the free t.v.

OK, NEWSFLASH, maybe... if you have internet access you can receive much of what cable companies bring in for free! You don't need to have a 'smart TV' that is internet capable or a TV at all as you receive them right there on your computer screen. There are places on the 'interweb' that give you access to practically all national networks and others that do the same with movies. The quality of these feeds is as good as your internet service, so if you have sketchy downloads normally, not expect any better. :)

Now that I have said that, I would like to warn about ads you might find on the internet offering 1,000s of channels and the like. These programs COST MONEY to by their software, which is GARBAGE and does not do what they claim. This trash is offered by a lot of internet vendors and the same basic product is sold under a variety of names. They cost in the range of $29.00 to $50.00 (last time I saw them). Just avod these rip-offs.

I am very reluctant to post the sites that offer free tv and movies, but I imagine that folks with the desire can find them.

I did not know that you could watch free tv with a hdtv. Everyday I learn something new.

Still got those bunny ears too. I know what you mean by not being able to afford a new HDTV, now a day alot are barely able to get by on what income they have.

Converter box works if you are not in the mountain area like me or in a place where even if you had just a regular antenna and cant get the reg channels like 2,4,5,7,9 etc. I had tried everything till I just went with hulu. Since then my direct tv have been reconnected with a little talking to them and how my bill can be. We were tired of seeing the same ole things on hulu or waiting to see the shows to come. It is not a bad thing. Hulu is for some. I just wanted my reg tv channels and cartoon for my son back. Now I have a cheap package and my tv back cause with the antenna or that converter box I had 2 channels. So this kind of thing only works for some people. Good luck. :icon_rr:

That watching TV on the computer instead of paying for cable sounds good to me.  Anywhere I can save a buck or two works for me.  Thanks for the info.

I am definitely thankful that someone mentioned getting tv on my computer.  I am really going to hunt that down on the computer...and thanks for the warning about the scams and rip-offs.
