Yes it is the simple things in life that really count the most. The older you get the more precious those memories and people become to you. Hold them close and remember them fondly. Good advice! Do look to the future and make more memories and friends. You can never have too many!

I've seen this advice before and I think they're good to follow, but they're hard to instill. It's easy to get discouraged and the discipline to pick one's self up again are often hard for people - myself included.

Agree that its a nice, simple and helpful concept to say, but harder to not "do", but "do continuously" in daily life where we are bombarded with information, messages, decisions, responsibilites etc. Before we can appreciate simple things, we should also simplify our lives.

What a great sentiment.  Very true for me.

As I get older, my needs and feelings change.

I used to be "high powered", but now I just try to appreciate family, health, nature, and the Divine.

Time is so limited, so I enjoy every small walk in the park with my husband and my dog.  I enjoy every dinner date at McDonald's or Wendy's.

You don't need a lot of money to be happy together.

This weekend is our anniversary, and I researched a ton of things to do for free in our area - museums, gardens, nature centers, and more.  We try to do something new every month at least, and visit favorite spots as often as we can.

I was at the store the other day and ran into some random people who were extremely nice and helped me out.  They didn't think anything of it which made it that much more great.  That was a 'simple' thing that I greatly appreciated.
