I tan a little but get sunburn pretty fast because I am from up north. I tan in the summer at home but when on vacation down south, I burn badly! lol.

When I was young I use to lay out and I always burn.  I went fishing one day all day long on a boat and my legs got a 3rd degree burn.  Did that again.  It hurt so bad.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

Since I live in Florida now I have a little more color than my Northern family. I don't really like to be in the sun too long. I still burn, but I'm more careful now when I'm outside.

I burn even if I have sunscreen on.  It only takes about 15 minutes for me to start to burn.  The curse of a being a redhead!

I have burned very few times in my life. Because . . .

You can avoid sunburn with a few precautions.

1) When you're swimming or boating, remember that the reflections from the water amplify the sun's effects. Cover up or sit in the shade occasionally.

2) Try not to be in direct sun between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The rays are very intense that time of day.

3) Keep reapplying sunscreen when you're swimming or sweating a lot.

4) If you visit somewhere below the Mason-Dixon line, remember that the sun is very intense down there and you should limit exposure.
You can burn pretty quickly.

5) Don't use tanning beds, especially when you're young. They're finding out more and more about the dangers of cancer from them.

Remember that the sun is good for you in small amounts. The Vitamin D is so good for you.

However, too much sun can be hard on your skin. When you "tan" too much, it tends to resemble leather. You've seen enough women who have that look.
I'm sure you don't want your skin to look like that. Think about it.  8)

That's all the advice from the "doctor" today. BTW, I get tan slowly during the summer.  :P  And I wish they gave prizes for the most consistently long forum posts!  ;D

That might be a blessing, dramamama. Keeps your skin beautiful. I think redheads are gorgeous!
