I make mine by using skin on potatoes cut into wedges. I spray them with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt and pepper. I bake them for about 20 minutes in a 400 degree oven.

YUMMM Baked or fried.... I LUV HOMEFRIES! I always put Onions (red , vidalia or scallions) Black and white Pepper, A lil bit of Red and Yellow Peppers, Parsely, Mrs Dash Tomato Basil Garlic seasoning. If I'm baking them I would toss potatoes onions and peppers in melted butter before adding dry ingredients.

If you can cook them in the oven it is much healthier, but most folks like deep home fried...

the trick to getting your fries to be like Mc'D's is to blanch them first!  This will make them taste awesome!  Freeze-n-fry!   Enjoy!   :fish:

I love homemade French fries but they are so much work. Easier to pop a tray in the oven.

They sound great! The only problem is - it sounds like too much work! I really like French Fries - I also like Home Fries. I can't hardly find Home fries in a Restaurant anymore.!!

Ow, well done, that is sound yummy

May I know what kind of potato that is best for baked fries?

I really prefer the Yukon Gold potatoes for potato salad, but I haven't tried homemade fries in a while. Wonder why I'm so hungry right now??

Just FYI from about.com. Blanch: All it means is to put the item in question in boiling water, lift it out after the prescribed time, and cool it off quickly.

I had to look this up since I couldn't remember.

It sounds delightful.  My late grandmother baked sweet potatoes in the oven in their skin.  I loved to put butter on it and eat it.  It was so yummy.  When I want French fries, I fry them and season them with salt, pepper and hot sauce.  I use white potatoes.  I have been making my own French fries since I was 9.  It was either learn to cook or eat what my grandmother cooked, and sometimes it didn't look appetizing.  So I have experience in the kitchen.
