I occasionally will spend more money than I should, but generally I'm good at being frugal.  I've cut back on a lot of things, so I don't feel bad about the occasional splurge.

Being frugal is no fun when you are frugal....but the money saved up from being frugal makes it all worth it.

People complain about me being frugal until they're broke from spending and need to borrow money

I didn't realize being frugal meant you had money.  I thought being frugal meant living pretty good with very little.
At any rate I think it's a good thing.  People waste too much.

It is important to be a good steward of money.  For that reason, I buy my clothes at thrift stores. You can find some great bargains at thrift stores.  Yes, I think I am frugal.

I do this, too. Our local thrift store here has 'bag day' once a month when you can fill a large paper grocery bag for just $2.50. Once I got 8 pairs of jeans, a really nice jacket, salt and pepper shaker, a couple baskets for my plants and a few more items in one bag, lol. I love it!

I don't mind doing this at all cuz it makes it so much easier for me to save for a more expensive item that I may really have my heart set on.

I wish ours would do that.  I need to call cause they might do something similiar.

I think that being frugal is in the eyes of the beholder.  My wife does an excellent job of maintaining our expenses. Some people would see a few of our expenses as unnecessary such as private high school for my son, over a thousand dollars a month on the wife's/kid's sports, soon-to-be college tuition at the best colleges in the country. Education and sports are where our family priorities lie and we hope that our children won't have to work as hard as we do...that they won't face layoffs...that they will be well connected. I go a little far with frugal. I have been in the same pair of boots for three years, same jeans for two years, same shirts for five years, spend less than a dollar fifty on lunch and work eighteen hours a day.

My problem is I was never frugal and now it's too late to say I should have been-because I should have.  But I find it's not healthy for me to dwell on it.  I can't think of what I didn't do in the past, but doing better for my future.

Encourage them to be more frugal, it's really worth it. I was raised to be frugal so it's second nature to me. A penny saved is a penny earned.

I wish I had started being frugal sooner. I look at the things I bought that I could live without and think if I had put that into savings instead I would have $$$.  :crybaby2: Now I've got to figure out how I'm going to buy groceries. The store I shop at occasionally has buy 1 get one for a penny. I was able to get $38 worth of food for $18.

I have been frugal most of my life and now it's finally paying off.  Putting money away early is the key, and I wish I started earlier.  But I have a little to help me through retirement, I hope.  Most everyone considers me "cheap", but I don't care.  I want to enjoy my retirement.

this day and age there's nothing wrong with being "cheap" ...even the govt. is running out of money, you may end up being the only one able to afford to survive at this rate lol

I'm proud of being frugal.  I've had this good will, garage sale, second hand fetish for as long as I can remember.  When I was a new Mom and saw the prices on commodities young families begin to rely on I started looking for ways to save... even made home-made baby wipes.  (I swear my kids had the softest tushes in the neighborhood) I kick myself in the butt daily for some of the choices I've made in life and think, I could have saved so much if only I would have done X earlier or stopped doing Y sooner.  Better late than never - I've gotten to penny pinching so much these days if everyone that paid what they owed on time I'd actually be pretty proud of all my savings hard work - in the mean time it feels more like sacrifice.

sometimes it is hard to do. Especially when you have someone who would rather spend then save. If two people can't be on the same page what is the point of one being frugal?
i believe in being frugal because it helps more for the future
