Are Short Prayers More-Effective than Long Prayers?
« on: January 05, 2014, 02:11:12 pm »
I think so, for two of the reasons I mention here: 1) that God know your needs before you can even mention them & 2) that 'the children of God' (the ones you REALLY want to hear what you need) get your message clearer if it's shorter.

What do you think?

Really???  I think it goes back to whatever the person praying believes or feels. Who is to say that a short prayer is any less important that a longer prayer, they are both just as "effective" as long as you are sincere and believe.  ???

for me short prayers are best. I am a very direct person and to the point. length is an individual preference. not effective measure of a prayer. :peace:

I disagree, because--as in the example I gave from Think & Grow Rich at the link above--we're usually not praying 'so God can hear us,' but 'so His children can hear their mission-from-God' ::)

If your prayers have been answered it does not matter if it is a short prayer or a long one.

Prayer is basically a conversation with God.Conversations can be long or short. In the end what counts is whats being said. :)

But if your prayer's too long, it leaves the FSM a lot of room for 'interpretation' (sort of like the Djinn in the WISHMASTER movies).

Short or long is between you and God. Unless you are praying out loud in front of a group.

Well,I'm sure you realize there is no such thing.

As for God,He's no mythological trickster, hoping to catch us on a technicality. His nature is to reward those who fear and love Him

Is that to say He DOES NOT hear you if you pray out loud in front of a group?

And--whether he does then or not--which one do you think is better to pray for the group?

Well,I'm sure you realize there is no such thing.

You've not received tasted of His Noodled Appendage :)) ? Were I seeking to declare dissension-etc. >:-) I would liken your comment to that of those who 'shove their "God is Good"-plank deeper into their eyes, while calling the atheists on motes in their own' (or something).

But I also agree with you. Though I don't claim to fully-describe His nature as "set in stone," I also cannot claim any disagreement with any 'reason behind' His past actions of reward/punishment.

I'll be honest in stating I have no idea what you're getting at here.

Are you trying to say God is not completely good? That He is capable of evil?

I'm not 'trying to say anything'; I'm just reviewing the truth that comes to me, checking it with the truth that you-&-others have.

But ... maybe. Most say "God is Good"; others (or most also, but at other times) say "God is All" or "God is Everything." With my low human logic, I cannot see how He can be 'everything' AND 'only good.' I think God sees 'good and evil' as a kind of "heads or tails." In earthly terms, it's better to be good (no death, no destruction); but thank God that God isn't operating on earthly terms 0:-)

Matt 19:17

“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good.
