Neighbors playing loud music
« on: March 02, 2014, 09:27:41 am »
I have these neighbors who play loud music. I've already had to go outside once and ask them to turn it down. I've let it go for awhile but it just seems to get worse. Anyone else have this problem? How would you deal with it?

I do my neighbors play their music to loud when the weekend comes. But it really pisses me of is when they play the music to loud and you have to be in work early the next day and you tell them to turn it down because of you have to go to work  early the next day and they don't listen to you and keep playing the music loudly anyway.

I used to have that problem all the time when I lived in town. I now live in the country. nearest neighbor is 1/2 a mile away. No more loud neighbors.

Are your neighbors renting?  If so, the property manager can give them a warning about disturbing neighbors.  If you've asked them once you can justify bringing someone else into that situation to act as a mediator.  If they're playing loud music during hours when people would normally be sleeping you can call the police department.  The important thing is that they learn to be respectful or move somewhere else.  That being said, it's important that you be a considerate and respectful neighbor, as well.

Have a great day!

You can call the police anonymously where the people won't even know you called for noise disturbance.  You can run a search on the internet for the non-911 number of your police department.

Luckily I don't have that kind of an issue, but it's hard dealing with someone like that because they may do something else to irk you just because of music complaints. Good luck with that neighbor.

Oh Yeah we have that too. Our neighbors get drunk crank up the stereo and then PASS OUT. one time I never could get them to come to the door. SO I TURNED THE POWER OFF TO THEIR HOUSE. Now that was great, when I did it the my other neighbors started clapping. lol It was only 3:00am on a Monday.  ;D Needless to say they haven't done it again.  :angel11:

You ask them once to turn it down.. if they do not comply you put in a noise complaint with the local police department.. and they will be on notice.. If it happens again.. You once again ask them to turn it down.. if they do not comply you put in another noise complaint.. The more complaints you get the more likely the cops wil actually do something.. Usually they do come out and get them to turn it down.. Which is the good part. Sometimes it takes the law to step in to crack down on people's rude behavior.

Where we live, there is a 10 pm noise ordinance, so that is a very easy problem to deal with.  I do have one neighbor who gathers A LOT of friends in his apartment and you can hear them partying, but he does have it shut down and everyone out of the apartment building by ten so there is no complaint.  Even if the music or noise is bothersome, our landlord will not intervene if the noise ordinance is obeyed.

I had that problem where we lived before.  My husband would go over and ask them to turn down the music, and they would, for about 15 minutes then it would start up again.  We finally called the police.  That seemed to do the trick, I would try that if I were you.  Good luck!
