I received a refund check in the amount of $9.96 and received three 75 cent coupons toward my next three purchases.  I simply wrote an e-mail to the Sea Best Company and told them that their whiting was not "pan-ready" as they claimed.  When I find scales and blood under the white plate where the bone is, the fish is not "pan-ready" and requires cleaning.  My idea of "pan-ready" fish is heating up my grease, seasoning my fish, putting it in cornmeal and putting it in the pan.  I clean the scales off my fish and take that little white plate where I find the blood.  Only when I have done that, in my opinion, it is pan ready.  Has anyone else written a letter or e-mail to a company and made a complaint?  What was your outcome?   :rainbow:

Gross.  I have emailed, written, and called companies for various reasons.  And yeah, I have received coupons and even free product vouchers before.  But, I am always truthful.  I don't complain with a lie just to try to get something free.  I think they can usually spot those.   Plus, they keep a data base.  A lot of people do not know that.  I have read online places telling you how to get free stuff.  And one was saying to call fast food restaurants and make bogus complaints.  But not to do it over ever 2 months or they will catch on.  Thing is when you complain in situations like that you get people in trouble.  I remember years ago I worked at Taco Bell and we (the drive thru people) got cussed big time over several items that were left out of a bag.  A few years later a girl was telling about calling Taco Bell and complaining (it was this same incident) and she was laughing and said she lied to get free food.  I thanked her.  Told her how much trouble we got in.  She thought that was funny too.  Smh.  It's no wonder I don't like people any longer. lol

I did get some incentives and free product back but not for complaining. I think my wife was enjoying the flour tortilla that this one company was providing and she just send them and email and thank them for the wonderful tortilla they are providing and next thing we know they send a whole case to our home with complimentary new products to try and see if we like them.

Congratulations on getting a refund!  I think those are few and far between.  I've written to companies about problems with their product but have only received coupons for the products in question.  What I truly hope they do when they receive complaints is to seriously look in to the problems stated and make corrections so that we don't find these problems in future products.

I once complained to Directv about being charged for a movie that I didn't order. They gave me a refund for the movie and sent me a portable DVD player which was really nice!

Back in the 80s I wrote a company that made dish detergent. The cap came off and dumped soap in some wooden salad bowls I had. I could never get rid of it. They sent me a voucher for $10 maybe. They even went to explain how they contacted their quality and testing department to see if there was any reason for the cap to slip off.

Recently I sent Walmart a message because they canceled my order for no good reason and when I reordered they got the new one to me when the first one should have arrived, a week earlier than expected.  Previously I've contacted a couple companies for replacement wheels for my computer hutch and a bin unit.  Both companies sent me a wheel pack free.  I also bought a pet carrier that was missing a part from the hardware kit.  That company sent me a whole hardware kit for free.  :)

I buy the fish a lot and, in my opinion, informed the company of what I was seeing.  I don't just complain to get a refund, but I am a consumer who informed the company that calling the whiting "pan-ready", indicating that they had cut off the head, took the guts out, and the tail off, informing customers that the fish was ready to cook as is, was not correct.  I take precautions to make sure that what I put in my mouth to nourish my body is right.  When I put the fish in water, I took the knife and scraped the sides, and when the scales came off, that was my first clue that the terminology "pan-ready" was wrong.  I then turned the fish over, opened up the chest to find the white plate covering, took the knife, lifted up the white plate off,  where I found bone and dried blood.  I then took my time and took the fins off the fish by pulling them out.  I know that my fish is clean because I have taken the necessary precautions to make sure that there are no scales, fins, or white plate on the bone.  The truth is, not everyone is out to get something for nothing.  I am a consumer and, without the consumer buying the products that companies sell, their companies would not fare so well.   :rainbow:

Never received cash back but have written an e-mail complaint and gotten a significant amount of coupons.  I did it about some cosmetic cream which is quite expensive and had hardly anything in it but what they sent me was not satisfactory so I called them then and they sent me another coupon.  I didn't feel like if I was going to replace the product I should pay anything after the inconvenience.  They are probably a lot of other times people should complain that they don't including me. And I totally agree with you about the fish.

What a great idea!  Never really thought about taking the time to send a letter about something I did not find to be true.  Seems like it definitely pays off to do so - I may do this at some future point... nice to hear of their efforts - thanks for sharing!   :notworthy:
