I understand your concern.  They are "family".  How fortunate that it wasn't a bite.  Hope he is up and running again soon.

Thanks everyone for your concern and prayers.  Riley is doing much better.  He's able to walk now, but where the rip is it has to hurt  He goes back to the vet Monday to get the drain removed (it's about 2 inches sticking out).  He HATES the cone, but as soon as I take it off his mouth goes right to the drain.  That's my boy - naughty so I know he is on the road to recovery.  Thank you everyone again!

I'm glad he's doing better and it's a very good thing that you got him right to the vet or it could have been very bad for him.

I understand your concerns completely!
I have no children, so my cat is my baby. Growing up, my pets were like my brothers and sisters.
I'm glad your baby boy is getting better! I hope he makes a full recovery very soon!!

I am sorry he is hurt.  No, I don't think it is stupid to pray for your animals or even ask others to.  I lost my cat who was just a few months from being 16 back in January.  Sometimes I still feel guilty and like it is my fault she died.  I should have done more.

Me, personally, I wouldn't leave my animals for someone else to take care of.  Other than the vet.

Hope your pooch is okay.

I hope your dog gets past this scare.  He is like your baby and it will crush you so much if something happens to him.  I hope everything is okay, nancy5. :dog: :dog: :dog: :rainbow: ???

Thanks everyone.  Riley goes back tonight to get the drain removed.  It's about 2 inches sticking out of his side.  He's still bleeding (that's what the drain is suppose to do), it's kind of gross, but he seems to be getting used to it.  Unfortunately he has to wear a cone and he must be kept in a crate all day (except for potty breaks), because he's not allowed to be active.  Thanks again for your concern and well wishes.  I'll let you know how his vet visit tonight turns out.

I do have a dog and a cat so I know how much you feel for your 'children'. I'm pleased he's on the road to recovery. It's so difficult seeing animals ill because they can't say anything and they can't tell you they feel pain. They just lie there feeling sorry for themselves. When my cat last came home with a watering eye I took a look at it and noticed a grass dart rammed right down the corner of her eye so I got my husband to hold her still while I gentle pulled her eye lid back. I was able to remove the grass dart and she was good to go. But it's sad when they're ill.
