Bugggss Agghhhh!!!
« on: July 10, 2014, 06:17:41 pm »
Some days ago I had been seeing bumps on my skin and I was so itchy. They were in lines and some of the bumps were just scattered. I seen my culprit. It was a bed bug. Have found out that my son's friend's father has been digging in the trash and getting stuff from strange places. I had to tell my son sorry but no one is allowed in the house anymore and he is not allowed at their house either which I had stopped him from going over months ago because of the strange feeling I have about the parents. Anyway I checked my son and my bed which is still in plastic found no more but you can never know if they lerk elsewhere. Must of been that one day when the kid was leaning against my bed getting my tablet so he could play with it. I never really allowed kids in our home because I leave money on my dresser sometimes and my son has all his wii games and his 3ds games on his desk, never know who is a thief. I researched on the internet and found these comments from people about this stuff called Diatomaceous Earth DE. Not one comment on the home depot site was negative either. People were happy about this stuff and satisfied that it was not harmful to humans or pets. Not only does it kill bed bugs but it kills so many other crawling insects also. I bought me some and omg I have not seen a ant, spider or other crawling things. Just thought I would share my experience. Have anyone else had a epidemic of buggsss. :o ??? :o

Oh, what a terrible shame! Bed bugs are so hard to get rid of. I remember seeing a program on tv (infested, I think it was called) where a lady got some cheap second hand bunk beds for her young sons and it contained bed bugs. From there on after, she could not get rid of the bed bugs despite all her attempts. I believe they really only come out at night time when they smell the body sweat etc so by morning time, you are riddled with itchy rashes and irritable bumps. I do hope you are able to get it under control because life must be unbearable.

Thanks all for the good wishes. I did get rid of them with that stuff I bought from home depot. I also got rid of some other pests which was a bonus. I also read that some people dissolves this stuff in water to help with certain ailments. Diatomaceous Earth DE was a good help.  :)

Ugh!

My first job was at a fast food joint & we nightly put Diatomaceous Earth in the oil to keep it fresh for the next day to fry in.  I believe this is still the standard to this day.   You eat that stuff if you frequent restaurants that fry.  So it must be safe, or a reasonably degree of safeness.

Congrats on getting rid of them!

That's good to know that DE is so effective against bugs. How do you apply it?

Oh wow, that is crazy!  We've been having an awful time with mosquitoes this year.  They are eating us up!  They seem to be out day and night so it's been so hard to keep them out of the house.  We seem to get mostly at night, while we are sleeping!  Can you safely spray for mosquitoes indoors??  I'm running out of ideas!

You need a application container that spreads a powdery substance evenly. If you google it there is help on how to apply it. I used it mildly in crevices between the mattress and box spring. Every corner of our home and crevices.

I am not sure how I would apply it for those pesky things. How it works is that once they walk through or eat it, they suffocate and die. It is a powdery substance so maybe if you research it you might find a way.

Ican really feel for you. I do not like to even think about bugs in my house. It makes my skin crawl to even imagine it. I;m glad you were able to get rid of them. I'm writing down the name of your cure!!!

Oh dear what a nightmare.  I've never encountered bed bugs myself.  Thank goodness.  I have however encountered flea infestations both indoor and out in the lawn.  That was enough of a pain.  We've got these weird gnats flying around this year.  It seems they've decreased since we one started running our central air rather window units and our landlord had to make some repairs on our well as the water in the entire complex stopped flowing abruptly.  I'm going to check into that product myself to see what other things it targets.  You can never be to careful.

I know bed bugs are hard to get ride of. Need to hire pest control personnel.

Diatomaceous Earth can be used internally, HOWEVER.. it MUST be "FOOD GRADE" Diatomaceous Earth!

Can't say that I've ever had any experience with bed bugs, and I hope that I never do. But I have had plenty of encounters with various other insects. And I must admit, I am definitely no fan of them. I really don't like pretty much every kind of insect there is. I like butterflies, even though occasionally even they sort of creep me out a little. lol  :-[
