i tried out amazon prime once b/c amazon had offered free 2-day shipping.
but during my membership i didnt use it much, so i dont really have any input

You can take advantage of the trail membership. In addition to the free 2 day shipping, streaming and kindle ( limited selection), I think there is a grocery service but I would check their website on that.

I had a free trial of it...it definitely seems like a great value, but I didn't think it was right for me since I don't shop enough....

I don't think it is worth $99. I am a member and almost never get items in 2 days. It is actually 2 days from when they ship, so if your shipper doesn't ship them for a week, that doesn't count. Not to mention the prime items that have the 2 day shipping charge so much more that they more than make up for the "free" shipping. Also, you can't download the "free" music. You can download an app to play the music from devices.

I use a roku to stream shows and have no problems until i try streaming prime shows, it takes forever.

I use Amazon Prime on all my devices, Kindle, phone, TV, PlayStation and I encounter none of the issues you just mentioned.
Most of Amazon orders are usually shipped the same day or the next unless it's shipped from someone else
selling on Amazon. There's a major difference there and you will get an option to rate that seller's performance
in terms of shipping,
Here's something helpful, you could add someone to your prime and they too will share or benefit from the free
2 day shipping as well.

Prime is not just shipping:
$99 per year may sound like much but you pay more to your cable provider for less.
Free 2 day shipping, Same day delivery, Prime instant video, Music, Photos, Prime pantry, Elements, Kindle owners lending library, Kindle first, membership sharing and benefits.

No I am not an amazon prime member but I have tried the free trial of it and it was ok during the time that I used it. But it is too expensive to use though.

I have Amazon Prime and love it!  It's so nice to be able to order an item have it shipped to another person directly from Amazon at no charge and they receive it in two days.  The item ordered just needs to be a prime item.  This saves me a lot of money in shipping and handling charges especially at Christmas time, Birthdays and special occasion gifts that I might want to send.

I don't buy that much on Amazon so it would not be worth it for me to have Amazon Prime.  I can usually get free shipping on my items anyway and I can wait for my items to be shipped to me.  I don't have to have it in 2 days.  Not worth the cost of $99 a year.
