I usually make my own sauce but always have a jar of storebought on hand for those quick meals.  I used to make pasta when I didn't work and had the time to do it.  Haven't used my pasta machine in years.  Not even sure where it is!  This year I will probably be buying more sauce since it doesn't look like any of the tomatoes will get ripe this year.

I do make my own.  Like flyingmonkey, if I'm making a meat sauce I use italian sausage.  I love making my own that I learned from growing up in an Italian family.   If I make marinara sauce I make meatballs and put them along with italian sausage in the sauce.  I make enough sauce at one time to be able to freeze some and then I have a quick dinner.  Haven't ever made my own pasta but would love to try it sometime.

I used to make spaghetti sauce but now I use "Taste of The Hill" sauce because it's made in St. Louis and is just unbeatable. I've never made pasta into spaghetti, but I would sometimes if I had a machine. I bought one for my mom one time and I don't think she used it a lot.

However, I do love making meatballs using sauteed onions, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, garlic salt and pepper. Then I roll them in my hand to make small, but not too small, meatballs (fun stuff) and fry them. When they're done, I put them in the sauce and it's a wonderful comfort food.  :in-love:

No one thinks they have the time to make anything from scratch.  ::) It really doesn't take much more time and it usually tastes better and it is always better for you; although you can adapt some things like cake mixes using applesauce instead of oil.

I use less sugar than recipes call for too. You don't miss it and it's better for you. :angel11:

I do not make my own pasta but I do make my own sauce. I  make in in the crock pot. the recipe I use was my grandmother's( she was Irish- go figure!). Any way it is very basic just tomatoes, paste ,onion, garlic and italian seasonings and let that cook all day. Then I brown turkey sausage and throw it in. Yum.

I don't make the pasta but one of my sister's friend's mother gave us a lot of tomatoes last year so I made my own sauces.  Turned out great!

We use Regu (or Pregro) pasta sauce but we spice it up a bit by adding sugar (Yes, we put sugar in our pasta sauce!) garlic and chilli powder. It tastes delizioso. <kisses fingers>

I haven't added sugar to the Prego or Ragu; but we like cooked/diced bacon in the spaghetti rather than browned hamburger or sausage.

I also use the sauces.  Sometimes I add  a few of my own spices though.

Italian sausage rolled meatballs in some sauce but ragu or prego. I use the big spaghetti noodles I do not like the skinny ones.
