I believe in legal immigration but then they should not be allowed to bring all of their relatives too.  The over-staying on Visas needs to be stopped and all illegal immigration must be stopped or we will lose our country.  I have no problem with necessary migrant workers with temporary work permits as the farmers and ranchers need them.  Common labor seems to be against the rules for Americans as they won't do it.
As for immigrants not being able to vote, they can with ID's which are easy to obtain and in Ohio the poll workers cannot ask for proof of citizenship anymore so anyone can vote with no problem at all.

In Ohio, they have voting machines that count backwards.
They don't need immigrants to vote.

I disagree that WE were all immigrants at one time. I didn't arrive in the U.S by plane, train, car or anything else, I was born here! and unlike our dear president, I have a real birth certificate that proves it not some phony bologna one.  My ancestors who came from Europe over 100 years ago were immigrants but that has nothing to do with my citizen status. As for today's immigrants (the ones who ARE coming by boat etc.) I think we have enough people in this country and need to focus on taking care of those who are here legally. I mean, we have homeless veterans, people on well fare, this country is losing it's identity, enough is enough! Lets get America back on track and reassess immigration at a future time.

I love how the argument has changed from ILLEGAL immigration to immigration in general. We are a country built on laws that ALL must follow, not the dictates of some leader / president that does as (s)he pleases. I agree that either us or our families were probably all immigrants at one time, but they did so legally. If your first act in a nation of laws is to break the law, that just shows that you do not respect that country or what it stands for. I respect the politicians that see a need to allow more legal immigrants into the country, but I completely disagree with those that pander to the illegal immigrants by turning a blind eye to their wrongdoing.

Just wondered if any of you have heard about the mass rapes in Sweden and Holland which are being perpetrated by Muslim immigrants there. The details are much more grisly. You'd think our country might take note of that.  :BangHead:

I think if you let a man fight your wars for you, live here for 50 years, you ought not deport him.

Yes, we are a nation of laws.  But those laws are not justice, nor are they fairly applied.

This country was founded on elitism and white supremacy.
Our immigration laws reflect that.

Unless you are Native American, then we were all immigrants at one time
I love how the argument has changed from ILLEGAL immigration to immigration in general.

Even Native Americans were immigrants. They came here from Russia/Asia over the bridge of land that connects to Alaska, now underwater.

I am totally against ILLEGAL immigration and I agree with the second quote wholeheartedly. There is no other country on this planet that caters to ILLEGAL immigration (barring the refugee influx in the Middle East right now).

All other countries have STRICT immigration policies that are well documented to be a lot stricter than ours. We send ILLEGALS back over the border (depending on the mood of the president/DHS/DOJ at the moment) and allow the ones who are caught and then let go to follow up with a hearing never to be seen again.

Remember the kids that were arrested and imprisoned in Iran for mistakenly crossing the border by a mile? North Korea is always arresting people and throwing them in jail for crossing their border illegally. Then we have Mexico. Remember the CA ex-serviceman who was put in jail for crossing the border illegally because he got lost?

It scares me that terrorists can cross into our country through Mexico due to lax enforcement of our laws.   We need borders and we need the enforcement of our laws.

The Republicans and Reagan made a deal with the Democrats to pass a law for amnesty for the 3 million that were here back in the day which included strengthening our border with a wall but the Democrats reneged on that deal and never built the wall. So what you have today is because of that failure.

Smudgyglasses - Try going to a country that doesn't have borders. Why should we be the only country without a border?
