Egg whites
« on: December 10, 2015, 05:08:20 pm »
I went to Vegas this past weekend and my sister only served egg whites omelet for breakfast a couple times and at first I thought I wouldn't like it but now, I think I am addicted. It is so healthy.  She sprinkled shredded cheese and sometimes fresh salsa on it with 1 piece of wheat bread. Has anyone been eating eggs for breakfast this way?

I've got to admit that I love eggs, but in the last couple of years I've managed to achieve a new status in high cholesterol, so for me, these are the worse things I can have. (There is enough cholesterol in one egg than I am supposed to have in one whole day). Having said that, egg whites is a purely different story. There is no cholesterol in the white part of the egg and so I frequently buy Egg Beaters from Walmart which, whilst they look yellowy, they are in fact, pure egg whites. This is a total score in my opinion because they taste the same as whole eggs in my opinion.

The verdict on egg whites versus eating the whole egg (with yolk) is being questioned again.  I think that if you wait the new study will say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating egg yolks. I have browsed through a few health magazines and they even tout the benefits of having a yolk or two. I think that the yolk adds flavor.  You can always find a dozen different articles on every food you eat and I have come to the belief that I should eat what I enjoy. When I am working out on a steady basis I try to fuel my body differently with a good balance of protein and carbohydrates. I think the same can be said for organic food. People tend to get organic things that really make no difference (organic toothpaste, organic toilet paper).

Unless my eggs are scrambled, I only eat the whites. That's where all the good stuff is.

I like eggs. So I eat it which ever way..yolk or no yolk.  Most of the time i'll have it with the yolk cuz i feel like its a waste to dump it.

Since I  eat eggs so rarely I never worry about the yolks.  Hubby is not suppose to eat them  often. But a problem with him is if he gets hungry during the night he will get up and fix one.  Another reason I don't fix them often.

I like scrambled eggs once in a while. I always make them with the yolk. The yolk has a lot of good stuff in it, especially for your eyes.

I find egg whites by themselves totally tasteless and sickening.  I only eat eggs with whites and yolks.

Thanks for all who shared their thoughts and ideas about my post. It is so good to come on here and read your honest responses. You don't have to buy the real egg, u just buy the carton that already has egg whites at your grocery stores.

When I have at home I use it all the time.  I scramble them with veggies to give it some flavour but I love it.
