to me i do not understand what people get out of watching stars act like idiots on tv i would rather watch something like a learning expericene or a movie  i like the law shows or cop shows i will not let me kids watch shows like the kardashians or the braxtons or marriage boot camp i want my kids to learn from tv not get bad ideas

Because people watch them.  If no one watched this junk then it wouldn't stay on the air.  But it's like people can't get enough of it.  I would hate to think my life was made in to a reality show.  lol.

Shows like The Kardashians, Teen Moms, 19 Kids and Counting, etc, are on because SOMEBODY is ignorant and/or bored enough to watch them.  Go figure!  Believe me, if they were based on my TV habits, they would all be off the air!

I wish there were more comedies.  I do like a couple reality show but there have been too many for forever.  Have a great day everybody...

I like to watch reality competition shows like So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars. The contestants are so talented and I love to watch their interpretations of different dance styles and idea concepts. I'm not a dancer myself but I am still totally entertained by the performers. I also love to watch shows like the Bachelor. I appreciate many of the contestants just want to get on tv and have their 15 minutes of fame, and I don't care how constructed the shows are.  I don't mind if there isn't a "match" at the end of the show, I just like to be entertained by the characters in the house.

I agree in that I think there is a great distinction between Kardashian-type of reality shows and reality competitions. Although I can't stand the former type of shows, I do enjoy the competitions, esp. when they're based on the contestants' talents. Of them all, I really enjoy vocal competitions (eg The Voice, American Idol, etc.) and cooking ones (eg Iron Chef, Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef). Then there are some that sort of blur the line between a drama reality show and a competition, like Survivor and The Amazing Race.... With these, although I enjoy the competition / activities, I couldn't care less about the interpersonal relationships.

TV has been and always be a distraction from reality and/or your life. Educational television programs are great to watch but you don't want spend hours in front of the tv watching them either.
