Of course the stupid and careless parent, but considering gorilla can be very aggressive like that woman who got face torn off, you don't want to take a chance.

I think the parents are to blame.  They should watch their kid in attend all the time.

It's a sad situation with what happened to the gorilla.  I would not blame the mother because it takes only a split second for a child to do something that is not safe.

Hawkeye3210...I agree with you completely.  I'm not going to copy all your quotes here, but you made very valid points and the animal experts support them.  And people are in such a rush to blame now days.  Blame when you weren't there and know everything that was going on...including gorilla behavior.  Crazy, crazy crazy! Shame, shame, shame!

The first time I saw the news clip on this story, it was a snapshot and I thought the Gorilla looked like he was steadying the kiddie in the water, like a parent would. At that point I really questioned why they had to shoot the Gorilla dead. But then yesterday I saw video footage of the gorilla dragging the boy through the water and then holding onto him and all I could think was, if that was my son, I would want the Gorilla shot. That being said I question the parents for not keeping a closer eye on the boy and secondly, I question the Zoo because there was only one fence surrounding the gorilla and that one fence was only 3 foot high!

The enclosure had not had anyone breach it in 38 years, that would make it seem to be very secure.  Now they are looking to see how they could improve, but accidents happen.  That is why they are called accidents.  It is a tragedy, but better to protect the child.

Who do you blame more, the zoo or the parent?

Hello there!  :D :)

I don't really blame anyone however I feel everyone is responsible for what has happened.  :highfive: :angry7: :angel12: The parents should've been watching their child, the gorilla was only doing what it was born to do. :angry7: :BangHead: :bs: :angel12: I personally don't agree with zoos entrapping animals when they should be in the wild. :BangHead: :angry7: :angel12: :bs: Then we killed them for being too wild. :BangHead: :angry7: :bs: It doesn't make any sense. :BangHead: :angry7: :angel12:  :bs:

It seems that the zoo is to blame.  It should not have places where A child could get through.  It should have made is more secure than they did.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)

I think the parent should have been more cautious with the child. There had never been a problem before

once the situation occurred, they really were out of options.  There were female gorillas who left the enclosure when lured with food but he was to interested in the new toy.  The enclosure had functioned for 37 years,  I mean a 12 or 15 foot high moot!  The kid had an agenda to get in there it was not an accident,  he did not fall.  If the child does not behave and will not listen to it's parent to stay with them, then there are harnesses and leashes.

I don't believe that is the mother's first time severely neglecting that child to the point of letting him endanger himself.  How long was he out of her line of sight before she realized he was gone.  Don't get me wrong, as a mother I know how energetic and unpredictable kids can be at that age, but would the reaction be the same if this neglect led to the little boy being kidnapped? Yes, the enclosure should have been more secure, but parental neglect is also cause of this issue.

i never lost my kids not once not ever. so i think the parents should be fined, however my daughter is the opposite, she has lost her kids, so she thinks the mom should be forgiven.  honestly tho how can parents lose their children to me thats just neglectful.your children should always come first and be first in your mind no matter what you are doing.
