Cat health problems. Advice?
« on: July 29, 2016, 08:35:57 am »
Hello  :cat: owners,

My cat is 14 years old and he had bad news at the Vet. What I thought was an injury to his leg is actually terrible arthritis through all his joints, pelvis, spine, etc. There are fusions and bone spurs everywhere.

Anyone have experience treating a cat with this problem? The doc doesnt want to go NSAIDS because he is starting to develop kidney problems as well.

He is still playful and eating, doesnt seem bothered by his joints.

My sister dog, which I took care of, had arthritis. He had medicine that I had to give her. It wasn't too expensive.

First of all, I would suggest you get a second opinion. Second, I would do some research online and/or talk to a holistic vet to see if there's something in your cat's diet and/or herbal remedies that can help its condition especially the kidney issues.

Lastly, I suggest finding some cat forums online and see what other people have done who have had cats that have had these issues. I think you would get more advice there than here.

Sorry to hear about your cat issues.

I understand how helpless you feel, I've a sick cat too. Do, ur research, there must be some kind of medication out there that doesn't affect the kidneys. Try massaging those aching bones, make it like a fun time or a game. See if acupuncture is an option for your cat, there are holistic methods being used for pets now a days. I had a friend that helped her cat with leukemia live  longer  by just adding cottage cheese to her diet. Most importantly, continue to keep ur cat as comfortable as u can & just love him.
