Don't know why you want to see them, but can you do it online?  If you can, do that, it's a lot easier and stress free.  I hate waiting for help.  Good luck!

I would definitely try to do it online.  It's a nightmare to do anything with government employees.  That shouldn't be a surprise.

Social Security programs and benefits are "a real nightmare".

Can't really expect much better with the government. Nobody cares about what they do

Use a lawyer... The fee is well worth them getting the correct paperwork and not dealing with a time waster like you just experienced!

I think it's just terrible that you had to wait so long at the S.S. office. Have you tried phoning the main number for them to see if you can't get your problem resolved over the phone? Their number is 1-800-772-1213. Every time I have had a question or a problem I have just called them and had no trouble at all resolving the issue over the phone.

I would agree that if you can get your business or questions answered online it would be the way to go.  If you are applying for just normal benefits, it can easily be done online.  Also almost any question can be answered online.  I don't know about SSDI.  If that is what you want, make sure you have plenty of documentation from your doctors, psychiatrist, whatever.

definitely online if you can...getting social security is easier than getting disability..that one is  long drawn out process..and they try to wait you out so you will quit...my husband gets it,took him 4 years and thats with drs and their drs stating that he couldnt work..also a lawyer..

I would never had waited for six hours if I had an appointment.  I would be   >:(  and demand to talk to the  :bs:  person in charge of the ss office.

i would never sit there for 6 hours waiting on someone to see me. i have food stamps and the medical card but i have never been down to the office coz i didn't have to. wait for them to call you back on the phone. don't waste time sitting there. you could be doing something else more productive.
