No Coffee while Driving

I heard in New Jersey that you can get a ticket for drinking coffee while driving. whoever gets elected as president, I hope they take care of these foolish laws.

I didn't hear that.  Does it cover anything you drink while driving (water, soda)?

Pull over and take a break. Driving is a serious activity that requires your complete attention. Distracted is very dangerous.

In someways i guess i can understand it. If it is a hot cup of coffee and you drop it in your lap it can burn like crazy and  you may lose control of your car. Or you drive weaving all over the road and cop pulls you over and  you have to get out of the car, first thing that cop is going to think is you are drunk and peed your pants.  I don't  know if it is worth it driving and drink a hot  cuppa of joe.  some of the places sell you a cup that is so hot you burn your mouth when you take the first drink.  I prefer having a cold drink in a nonspill plastic glass.  And if i  am driving i rarely pick it up.  unless i am at a traffic light and not moving. I don't like to take my eyes off the road, but getting a ticket i don't know.

They haven't passed the bill yet and it would include any beverage in hand. I think they are also trying to pass a law that you can't smoke in the vehicle either...GOOD! Foolish as it may seem but both hands must remain on the steering wheel at all times.

Almost silly that there needs to be a law for it, but bottom line is that both hands ought to be on the wheel. Kind of surprised to see food and drink being targeted tbh, I see more drivers calling/texting than ever since it got "outlawed".

It's not a law, just a bill a couple lawmakers are trying to pass.

Sometimes a person drinking a coffee/tea/soda while driving can save a life.  I keeps you alert and awake.

I always have a cup coffee in the car for me. I don't drink it if the traffic is difficult, but it is a refresher.

I think it was brought up in New York for a possible bill, but got massive back-lash.

I always have a beverage in the car with me.  I hope that doesn't happen in my state.

That seems pretty silly to me. I always carry a drink with me at all times. Not coffee, iced tea. They are passing a law in Florida though that you can't smoke in your car if you have kids under 16 in it. I think that's a great law.

I can see this as a yin yang case because having coffee is nice for some while driving but when you have one hand on the wheel the other on something else it also puts you and everyone else around you at risk as well
