When I do use a pencil, I will use a mechanical pencil.  They are so much easier to use because you don't have to worry about sharpening the pencil.

#2 just refers to the graphite. Mechanical pencils are almost all #2 as well.

When I was in school I used mechanical pencils a lot. You don't have to get up and sharpen them. When I write these days I usually use a pen but to draw I use a regular #2 pencil.
