I've been sent to hospital before for what seemed to be a heart attack only to be told it was anxiety.  I still get massive chest pains if I get too much anxiety.  It seems to get worse as I get older.  I've tried different ideas to "de-stress & relax", have to remind myself to just "breathe", try to take things "one day at a time", have tried essential oils & new hobbies, excercise and teas.......nothing seems to help much.  I can "stay calm" (or look very calm on the outside) but inside, I'm totally coming unglued & it's an awful feeling.

Yes, i do have them. I don't do large crowds where they're close up on me. I'll get terrible bad breath and extremely stink underarms, nervousness and lightheadedness,

I have had panic attacks, yes. They are truly miserable. I really thought I was having some sort of heart attack when I had the first one.

I think all day long I'm having a very watered down version of an anxiety attack. lol Constant worrying, stress at home, etc. makes for terrible nerves and I find I'm always anxious, tense, find it hard to relax... It's very rare that I have full-blown attacks, however, thank God.  :heart: It's a bit comforting to hear how prevalent it is, I will say! I didn't realize just how many others had similar problems.

I left my job in retail at the end of June because the ridiculous amount of stress I was dealing with began triggering my anxiety attacks EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I developed horrible issues with anxiety after something personal happened in 2011. I slowly managed to cope with it and keep it in check on my own since then, but in May I had the worst attack I'd had in a long time, and in hindsight it marked the beginning of all my hard work unraveling. So luckily, I was able to remove myself from such a toxic situation, since my husband makes enough to support us comfortably (we had been discussing me leaving my job since that bad attack in May because he was worried about me).

Now I'm a housewife, and just last month we adopted a little rescue dog. She's so sweet and keeps me company while my hubby's at work. She's not an aid dog, but having a little furry sidekick helps.

I have terrible panic attacks. Have had them for years and it affects me on a daily basis. I used to only get them when I was around a lot of people. I would feel dizzy and light headed. Now I get them so often that it affects me while I am driving. Have to have my husband take me most places now because of it. Hate it so much.

I'm really anxious now, my physical is coming up & I'm forced to go to the doctors in order to get my pills refilled! The thing is every thing goes haywire from my, glucose to my blood pressure every thing is a mess! I take Zoloft but sometimes it makes me feel indifferent to the things around me! Really don't want to see the doctor right now! Really scared!

Suffer an anxiety attack when I was going to take a c++ test at my college class in the afternoon... Did an all nighter studying for that test and also trying to finish a report for my senior project.. Skipped that test and the professor just waived it off (3 test but he only counts 2.. Since I did well on the last 2 test I just use those as my test grade). Was not happy with my senior project partners after that.. Still have issues with them going to senior project part 2, but we at least have it working.. Glad I don't see them anymore

I don't have anything as severe as many of you have described. But I do have a card regarding anxiety and depression that gives suggestions.

assertive behavior: speak confidently  - gain respect

* I am worthy of respect.  :P
* I can say, "No."  :angry7:
* I am here to be heard; not to win.
* The more I practice, the more comfortable I become with new skills and behaviors.  :highfive:
* Assertiveness promotes self-worth.
* Assertive people get respect.  :angel11:
* I can let go of guilt.

to be assertive:

1. Study. Practice. Re-study. Practice.
2. Exercise your rights. Get your needs met. But not at the expense of others.
3. Use "I" messages.
4. It's ok to put myself first.  :star:
5.  You don't always have to have the answer. Step back, think, review your skills.
6. Speak up and don't raise your voice.  :-[
7. Say what you mean, mean what you say, and drop it.
8. No apologies needed.  :-\
9. Don't forget to breathe.

If any of these suggestions helped even one person, it would be good. Right?

Yes, and I hate them. Sometimes my anxiety is so strong, I can't tell if the symptoms I'm feeling are real or imagined.

 A lot of people do not understand having anxiety attacks.  They are scary and can pop up when you least expect it.  It is not nice because it takes control of your life if nothing is not being done to help.
