Webcam Surveys
« on: September 22, 2016, 10:08:54 am »
Do any of you participate in any surveys that require access to your webcam?

I do not. I refuse every time, I don't care what the payout is. The thought of a stranger watching me is creepy, not to mention all of the horror stories you hear about webcams getting hacked and people being spied on. Maybe that sounds extreme and a tad ridiculous, but I'd rather know I've secured some piece of my privacy that I can control instead of living in naïve ignorance.

Never have and never will participate in a survey that requires webcam! Not that I'm paranoid, but I just don't like the idea.

Absolutely not.... and I don't use a webcam. The NSA admits they can openly view your webcam even if it is turned off. My phone camera is always pointing at absolutely nothing. I trust no one....!!

I agree with you 100%! I do not trust anyone accessing my web cam unless I know who it is. Sometimes, surveys want me to install programs on my computer as well, and I also deny those. It's just too risky now in days. You never know what information is going to be compromised. Identity theft is on the rise, and while a survey company itself may be trustworthy, it doesn't mean hackers can't gain access and expose your information.

Never have never will. When we bought our laptop my husband covered ours with duct tape to begin with. Anyone can hack into someones webcam. It's truly scary to read some of the horror stories online.

That's asking too much I think. I cover my lens for added privacy.I hope that works.

Nope, no way, not going to happen.  I don't do webcam video survey type stuff.  About a week ago, I began a survey questionnaire and while I was still in the first part of the survey, I found out that it required a webcam.  So I clicked 'no' and moved on to another offer - one not quite so personal.

I think I've gotten around 4 surveys in the past few days requiring a webcam.  They must be having difficulty getting people to qualify (who use them) or I just happened upon several at once.  Well, I don't and won't qualify for the webcam surveys.

I know I've taken a survey or two that wanted to capture your mood after reading or viewing something.  They offered different faces with expressions on them for you to choose the appropriate face in order to indicate your mood (Brainjuicer is one of those who use this).  I'm much more comfortable with that than using a webcam, which I don't have anyway.

I do. It doesn't embarrass me because I understand confidentiality in surveys and wouldn't assume anybody would be invading my privacy.

Yes, I have done them and have no problem with them, except sitting still in the camera's view.  I keep my webcam covered over with a post-it when I am not using it.
Have a wonderful day!

No I don't. I feel like it is an invasion of my privacy. Probably silly, but it just takes me out of my comfort zone.

I've done it a few times.  Nothing special about it.

I never had the opportunity, but I wouldn't mind that. I do usually keep my webcams covered over, but I would uncover it to get paid for a survey. It's only a temporary lack of privacy.
