Unfortunately a lot of the "sale" laptops have really crappy memory and such.  I have been shopping laptops as mine is 8 years old and it has more memory than many of these "door buster" sales.  The marketing/advertising is pretty scary

Oh my gosh one time we bought a laptop off ebay - it was a dinosaur and would overheat within 20 minutes (Or less)  I would store my cutting boards in the freezer and set the laptop on them to keep it cool to get a little more time in before having to shut it down to cool off.  I was trying to save a few bucks --- in the end I decided time is worth money and didn't cheap out again.

199 is a great price for a laptop but I guess it's not a price for a great laptop. :( Sorry though, it should at least do what it's supposed to do. I hope you can fix that!

I truly believe that my husband and I have the best of the best.  When we asked our local used computer and repair shop about our brand of choice, his short answer was 'I don't like them'.

The reason he doesn't like them is because they never break down so they are never found in his shop.  Go figure.  Our workhorse computers are bad for his business.

Though not cheap, it' what we use for business and personal.  I wouldn't trade them for anything.

I don't know if the receipt is still valid, since I bought it over a month ago. I'm not sure I can even find it to begin with. But isn't that dangerous to take a Laptop back? I mean, I've used bank account numbers & credit cards on it. Won't some tech savy person find that stuff out?

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

I'm sorry you have to deal with issues after getting a new laptop.  You don't expect to have a problem when something is brand new.  It appears to be a sign of the times, though.  So much can go wrong with these electronic devices.  It's a miracle when all goes smoothly.  I had to get a new hard drive for my desk top, and now everything is so different, I've almost quit using it.  Just to set up my old email account will be a major phone call/process that I don't look forward to.  And now, my old printer isn't compatible with my new hard drive.  I guess if that's my only problem in life, I should be ecstatic!

What happened? Take it to your local Library and ask the librarian to help you and your computer.
I think it is just a bad connection. Good luck!

Not sure why someone would go to the librarian for tech support (unless they have a side tech job or a significant IT background). But unless they advertise/promote computer assistance - that is one of the last places I would go.

My wife is a self trained computer expert and has basically become the IT department at her small company by default. She regularly has friends who come to her with computer problems because they know that she has a lot of experience in the field - and most just assume that she will fix their (time consuming) problems for free.  I suppose it is her fault for continuing to do it, but it can get pretty frustrating for her at times.  It is inconsiderate to take time away from someone (with the expectation that the service is free) when it might otherwise cost you money to go to a professional. She does have one friend who always gives her restaurant gift cards as a thank you for helping, which is nice.

So unless the library advertises free computer assistance (and the librarian has some extensive tech knowledge), I think it is a bad idea to go to them and expect them to help fix your problem.

It sounds like you should do a safe mode start  and then a normal start to see if it can load the divers/ commands to active the web cam normal. You can also try roll back, restore/ recovery.  Sounds like you have some kind of software update that could have cause a software conflict/ Corruption. Normally when you cant open web cam it gives you an error code, it doesn't open even if you click on it 20 times, or gives you an being used by another program etc etc.

As for your space issues... sounds like you may have 30 or 60 Gb hard drive which your OS could take up as much as 10 or 20 gb plus overtime you have to get updates which takes away more space. You may need to see how much hard drive storage you have by opening My computer for windows/PC or  Mac... my storage/ about this mac. You can also get rid of useless apps, programs etc to free up space.

I always save up and by a good one after reading reviews.  My computers and laptops have always by HPs.  My laptop is a pavilion and so is my desktop.  Both are at least five years old and my laptop and my desktop never gave me a day trouble.  I've always found Hps to be reliable and last for a long time.  If they cause trouble it means either a lemon was bought or it's starting to die.

I feel the same way about my computer. It takes me hours to go through my email sometimes. It does load or when I try to open an email, it won't load.

Getting a $199 Laptop is good for me to be good, and you should return that laptop.
