Depends on the item whether or not i'll eat it past the expiration date.
Mostly 3 days past expiration date...  Eggs several weeks after expiration.
The only thing that gets tossed exactly at expiration in non-fat milk & that is because it just smells awful.

Depends on what it is and how it looks. If it's only been a few months, maybe but not over a year. A big no-no. :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad: :bad:

I would never eat food that has expired.  That is so gross.  I am real funny about what I eat anyway.  If it doesn't smell right then I wont eat it.

It depends on what it is and how old and expired it is some things last longer than their expiration date and that's fine but some things like milk no I toss it as soon as the dates up

It really depends on what it is. Most of the time I will just toss it.

Not anymore. In my past, food is expensive, so I ate it a little past expiration date, now that I am more sensitive and bacteria is stronger these days.

Just as long as the food actually is still fresh. I think an expiration date just means when the product should be sold by so the product doesn't have a good chance of winding up going to waste.

Never dairy or meat, but maybe canned food if it smells and looks okay.

I don't. I throw it away.

If it is still good.  The suggested sell by or expiration date doesn't mean it will be bad by that particular date. A lot of stuff is still good.  I can't afford to throw food away.

I eat canned food that is expired. The expiration dates are pretty much random. There is no government anything that determines the expiration date.

They aren't random.  It is a certain number of months from the date it is canned.  Sometimes it is 12. Sometimes 18 and sometimes 24.  You are correct in most canneries the government has no say in the expiration dates put on the cans.  I don't know if it is all canneries but I know at least one the expiration date is the length of time the can is guaranteed to stay sealed. It won't hurt you to eat it after the expiration date as long as it is still looking and smelling good.
