I would have to say I have been depressed since my husband of 35 years passed away in 2010.  I can't shake it completely but I do somewhat cope.  I live with a son who is chronically depressed and that makes it harder on me to deal with my own depression.  I hope if any of you are depressed or live with someone who is that something good will happen to take this issue out of your life.

I think the word depression is over used and used incorrectly a lot these days.  Heck I'd bet 80% of the population has depression in their medical records.  Don't believe me?  Ask for a copy of that paper where they circle the things wrong and why you were there. You would be surprised how many times they circle depression or anxiety.  Yes when I sit here 3 hours past my appointment I am going to be p*ssed.  I am angry and tired of being here not anxious.  I swear I think they get kick backs for how many pills they can push on people.
And don't kid yourself the Paxil, Xanax, Prosac, all that still IS addictive. Even though the doctor will tell you it isn't.

Yes! Every since Christmas it's just been one thing after another my daddy passed away on Christmas I had to put my little dog Katie Sue down then I find out that my health is not doing very good they think I have leukemia now on top of lupus and Ms I have been very depressed over this and can't seem to overcome it

I am curious how they "think" you have leukemia.  It is a simple blood test and they know.  I would say do the test.  You need to know.  The sooner they start treatment the better.  Leukemia has a pretty high survival rate now a days.

I’ve struggled with depression every since I was a young kid. I tried killing myself and I went to therapy thought I had my depression pretty much under control but have recently ended up back in therapy

It's good to know you're back in therapy and I hope it helps you with your depression.  I'm glad that you reached out.

Yes, my husband has major depression due to his limited mobility due to his disability.  His bad days makes my days bad.
Have a wonderful day!

I have been on antidepressants since my first son was born 43 years ago, I don't think I would be alive today if I were not on them. I have had to change drugs several times and still struggle some days.

I know many people who are depressed and I do my best to be there for them and help in whatever ways I can.

Depression runs in my family and so, naturally, I experienced it in all levels of school and even in my current occupation. I am doing well now, but four years ago, I was hospitalized and medicated for the condition (an adjustment disorder). I periodically experience brief episodes, but I try not to go back on medication.
