I think we should gather together for church. I believe it is a Christian biblical principle. Yes, we can worship outside of a church and all day long, for that matter, but going to church is another way of learning God's will.

Besides, it's nice to get together with like-minded people.

I believe that how you act on a daily basis is more important than going to church once a week.

Does anyone think that attending church every Sunday is a necessity as a Christian? Or can church live in us? Having devotions in the privacy of your home?

The Bible says you are to assemble yourselves together. You are suppose to go to church. No, I don't think you will go to Hell if you do not but most people who "have devotions in the privacy of their own home" watch a tv preacher while playing Candy Crush on their iPad and call that having church.  I dated a guy once that went hiking a lot on Sunday and he said he "worshiped God in nature".  Uhm Okay.

How else can you really learn about the Bible and Jesus if you don't attend church?  I learn so much in Sunday School.  We have a very knowledgeable teacher.
Have a wonderful day!

Jesus said "It is finished", there is no sacrifice left.

He does not appear in a wafer and a cup of wine. He completed His work being crucified and raised from the dead.

The bible also says we are not to forsake the assembly of believers.  If we are truly born-again, the Holy Spirit lives in us, and we are saved from having to perform a ritual.

However, we are told not to forsake getting with fellow believers. It helps us stay focused on Him, and we can encourage one another.

Salvation (as the Bible teaches us) is believe in the Lord Jesus (asking Him to forgive your sins and save you), and you shall be saved.

If I miss church, even for a long time, the living Savior is in my heart through the Holy Spirit. I am not ever in danger of losing that.  It says we are permanently sealed.

What Blessed Assurance.

Well said.

I do attend church regularly, for fellowship and to hear teaching on the word of God, not because it's "required". However God is with me at all times, not just at a certain building on a certain day.

I think its important to have "fellowship"... I don't feel this concept can only be achieved in a magical building, or led by a pastor/priest or other religious official. Emphasis on Christianity should be placed in your relationship with Jesus Christ and living a life that reflects his teachings and examples. Church is great (for some), but sometimes it can ironically be without God. People in the congregation often focused on themselves or worse yet the gossip of others. Do you at the end of the day. Whatever you feel will bring you closer to where you want to be in your journey.

I don't go to church on a regular basis, but I do believe in God, and know there is a higher power.

Going to church is  not what saves you but christian fellowship is a pretty important part of living a victorious christian life.  Going to church also communicates to those watching your life that you place great value in your faith.  Of course, there is that old saying that "sleeping in a garage does not make you a Ford".
