To me if you are going to get involved in something, it is best to do it all the way or not do it at all. I don't think God wants any part timers.

We try to go  at least every Sunday for fellowship and worship. But I believe God is understanding  when for some reason you can't make it as long as you believe in him and  try to follow his teachings. I also believe  in  helping in other ways in his name like volunteering and working at a charity to help those in need.

I believe that each person has to make the decision about what is right for them.  Some people prefer to go to church and  bond with other people.  Others feel that god is everywhere and don't necessarily need to go to church to pray to him.

The U.S. is a free country, so it's your choice if you want to go to church.

What about rest of world?

Sadly tho Gods people have been being persecuted in Russia.A sign of the times.Jesus warned us.

John 15:20 New International Version
Remember what I told you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

I went to church for the first time in years a few weeks ago for my niece's babtisms. I feel guilty about not going more often but I do thank the lord and pray every night.

Going to church is good in that you surround yourself with like-minded people (for the most part, not always) who are going down the same path as you.

It helps strengthen your belief and faith in God.

It may be necessary for some people, but not everyone. It's a personal decision in my opinion.

It isn't necessary.  Going to church doesn't save you, a relationship with Jesus saves you.  However, Jesus did say not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.  My pastor always says, how can you do the one another verses if you are never around others.  Plus, I think it helps us to keep our theology and thinking on track.  We can get some pretty strange ideas in our heads if we are only depending on ourselves.  Other opinions and insights are good.

I agree. When you join a church, you have expectations. Choir, youth directing, and of course tithing. There is more sin in the church building than anything. All people in church do is look down on a person for instance if a unmarried women gets pregnant. In my old church, the pastor made this lady marry the father of her child because she got pregnant out wedlock.(They both attended the same church) and years later they divorced. It was very ugly. So in order to remain members, she had to marry him. Some churches, NOT all  is starting to look like the occult, now that's scary. Thanks for your input, and by the way I do my daily devotions at home and I pray. Charles Stanley, and The Daily Bread are my favs for bible devotions. No one is judging me at home, its peaceful and I'm happy with just that.

Growing up Catholic, we went to church every Sunday.  Mortal sin if you missed.  I'm not a practicing Catholic.  I haen't been to church in a while but no longer believe in fire and brimstone punishment in hell because I didn't attend.

This Catholic felt a lot of relief when I started going to Protestant churches and saw that I was't going to go to hell for missing a Sunday service.

I belong to a little church out the road,,,  but I'm not much of a goer.  They keep changing preachers all the time and I haven't found one lately that I like.   I will go once in awhile ,,,, and send them money sometimes tho.

It's not necessary to ever go to church to be a christian, much less every Sunday.  And by the same token, going to church doesn't make someone a Christian either.  There is no correlation at all.
